I must be in the mood for a Voyager rewatch, because lately all I can think about is moments from season one. One moment stuck in my head is from Caretaker, when Paris and Kim meet Captain Janeway and she shows them to the bridge. Ensign Harold Kim walks onto the bridge, wide-eyed with wonder at his new posting. Then, I thought about it. Wait, didn't he have to pass through the bridge to get to the captain's ready room? Did he have his eyes closed so it could be a surprise when the captain gave the tour or was he just humoring her and acting surprised in an attempt to kiss the boss' ass and achieve rank faster?

Another moment I thought of qualifies as a "no shit" moment. In Eye of the Needle, Telek R'Mor states that by the human calendar, the year is 2351, to which Chakotay responds, "But, it's 2371!" Now, I'm aware this is for the viewer's benefit, so it's a shock to realize the wormhole leads to the Alpha Quadrant... but twenty years in the past, but for Chakotay to blurt out what would be blatantly obvious to anyone with a brain strikes me as funny. I imagine Janeway afterwards being like, "Thank you Captain Obvious, of the Federation Starship Sherlock."

Can you think of any other weird moments or "no shit" moments in Trek? Keep in mind, this is a light-hearted thread, and not a thread to bash plotholes, perceived plotholes or canon violations or perceived canon violations ;)

And this evening I'm going to the grocery store in what they used to call a horseless carriage.

"Contagion", when they turn the Enterprise off and on again to purge the Iconian virus and act as though doing so is some revolutionary computer science:lol:

I don't recall where I first read this, but supposedly there's a back door to Janeway's Ready Room that leads directly to one of the corridors. So it's possible to get there without having to enter via the bridge.

That one time in TNG where Picard mentions "the Klingon Imperial Empire". Well, DUH!

Perhaps the idea was lost along with things like fuses so consoles don't blow up when they get as power surge, seat belts so people don't get thrown out of their seats. ;)

Well, I can give this one a pass since at the time the idea that black holes might link to white holes and act as a transit system hadn't been posited beyond another cheesey space movie as of the same year (Kirk immediately latches onto the "it must have emerged on the far side of the galaxy" angle instead of "why the fuck wasn't it crushed into a singularity?")

In fact, that whole line could be a dig at Disney's film?

Chief O'Brien just walks into Captain Maxwell's ready room after beaming aboard his ship without being stopped by any of his bridge crew.

Picard clunkily providing exposition in First Contact.
"The Borg have opened up a temporal vortex."
"Which means time travel. They plant to go back in time and alter Earth's past."
Dude, you're bridge crew knows what a temporal vortex is and what it means.

In The Child, Deanna is impregnated by an alien. The senior staff is gathered for a briefing and Picard says, “Counselor Troi is pregnant. She’s going to have a baby.” I can accept Picard being a little redundant in his speech, but what bothers me is everyone reacts on the word “baby” instead of “pregnant”. It’s like they have to be told what pregnant means, which educated Starfleet professionals should already know.

I'll always remember Martok's profound thinking: "When a father and son, do not speak, that means that there's trouble between them."

Before and After... where it takes Kes, who sees everything we see, about half of the episode to realise she is traveling backwards through time, even though it's obvious to us as viewers within 5 minutes or so.

In DS9 "A Simple Investigation" Arissa says: " I am married. I have a husband."

Although, it might have been ST discreet indirect acknowledgment of gay marriage... ;)

"In the Perfect Mate" when Riker walks about from the lady why does he contact the bridge to basically tell them he is going off to the holodeck to masturbate? If they need to contact him I am sure they can just tap their combage and connect to him.

In "The Time Trap" they refer to "a star century"

What in the blue hell is a star century? It's almost like they're adding space-y words to things to make them sound futuristic...

    Words of wisdom.
Somehow Hertzler's delivery made the line seem not so bad.
