DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

WB not really know for sticking to release dates with their DC properties though, lol

Wonder Womans and Aquamans are probably pretty safe as they're surefire hits at this point with established creative teams and nothing controversial behind the scenes preventing that they stay on track.

The shared universe is on the backburner

"The upcoming slate, with Shazam, Joker, Wonder Woman 1984, and Birds of Prey feels like we’re on the right track. We have the right people in the right jobs working on it," Tsujihara told the L.A. Times. "The universe isn’t as connected as we thought it was going to be five years ago. You’re seeing much more focus on individual experiences around individual characters. That’s not to say we won’t at some point come back to that notion of a more connected universe. But it feels like that’s the right strategy for us right now."

The only character who truly needs to come back for James Gunn's sequel is Amanda Waller; everybody else is essentially expendable due to the nature of the Suicide Squad as a conceptual entity.

The one where Robin is and angsty prick who loves shooting people, Starfire is both not orange and a murdering psychopath that dresses like a prostitute (and fucking shoots fire because the assholes couldn't even be bothered to glance at her wikipedia page) and Dove not just hurts people, but maims them? If I want to watch Zach Snyder's wet dreams in live action form, I'll just watch Sucker Punch. At least that crap doesn't destroy a pre-established property. Actually, comparing Titans to Snuder's work is an insult to Zach Snyder. Even he isn't stupid enough to not understand the concept of "Hawk and Dove".

So, yeah, I obviously didn't waste time watching the show made for angsty 13 year olds by angsty 13 year olds.
I haven't watched it yet, but I did get the impression that the show actually ended up pretty different from how the trailers made it look.
Exactly this. I know the saying is "Don't judge a book by its cover" but I couldn't get past that art.
Yeah, I had the same problem when I stumbled across the Emma Frost series on Comixology a while back. It sounded interesting, and even the interior art looked OK, but the cover art was kind of a turn off. Which is kind of ironic since looks like it's probably supposed to be a turn on. I don't mind it when art is sexy, but there needs to be more going that just that.
Damn. I wonder if we'll at least get Viola Davis back as Amanda Waller?

Wait. I'm no expert, but isn't the DCEU version basically an original character identifiable only by his "Hi, I'm Aquaman" nametag? And isn't that kind of approach usually a mortal sin in your eyes?

He is the son of the queen of Atlantis and a human. He has Aquaman's powers. He gets Aquaman's costume. He fights Ocean Master and Black manta, and has a relationship with a water controlling woman named Mera. Since the actor's race is generally irrelevant, he's Aquaman enough for me. I'm not against characters being tweaked, in this case movie Aquaman being much more "fun" and personable then comic Aquaman. He's still recognizable as the character.

The movies don't need to copy the comics exactly. I'm not mad at Avengers because Black Widow isn't 90ish years old, for example. Tweaking a character is fine, throwing 80-90% of the character away and using their appearance/name for an original character is where I have an issue. Aquaman is definitely largely based on the comics, minus a few tweaks. The basic core of the Aquaman character is there, the tweaked stuff is just the details.

I haven't watched it yet, but I did get the impression that the show actually ended up pretty different from how the trailers made it look.

Dove maimed people. Dove. A character who shouldn't even be punching people with a closed fist is just straight up maiming people. The literal personification of peace. Even if they made her powerless (because god forbid the show not be "realistic"), they could easily have made her skilled in the various fighting skills that are more about disarming and throwing people around. Instead she maims people, because the edgy 13 year old demographic likes blood. to add to that, Starfire burns people alive (even though starfire can't actually produce fire). Scott Lobdell's sex goldfish Starfire (who is pretty much universally hated) was more like Starfire then the murderous streetwalker on Titans. Hell, Robin just acts like frank Castle if he was an angsty idiot. This all happens in the show. The trailers were extremely accurate to the final product.
