What Song Are You Listening to Right Now

I discovered it totally by accident. I came across a link on the right side of YouTube to a video of a Scottish voice coach giving her reaction to Iron Maiden's Hallowed Be Thy Name, loved it, went to her channel, and this was on it.

Love this version of The Sound of Silence.

Oh, I used to kinda scoff at the idea that Bruce Dickenson was a trained opera singer. I love his voice for Iron Maiden, but I couldn't picture it. After her review, I can believe it.

I've been a fan of Simon and Garfunkel ever since I was born in '67, because my older half-brothers played their records in the house all the time, but I must say that Disturbed's version really upped the ante for me. I imagine their version playing if another remake of 'On The Beach' is made, as the camera pans around empty city streets.

Big fan of Simon and Garfunkel, too, and I thought this cover was excellent. A friend of mine likes Disturbed but said that he overdramatized an already dramatic song.

I disagree with your friend. For me, it's like this: The S&G version feels like a person looking around them and seeing the Vietnam War going on. Disturbed's version has the feel of The Terminator, when Reese says that the whole human race was close to going out forever. I see it as emotion amped-up farther for a reason. But, that's just my take on it....
