Read it, doesn’t really assure me.... I really hope McFarlane continues making ST action figures...Not a status but an article about it:

I wish they would release their phaser from Disco :-(
No-one wants to buy DIS merchandise...

I would. I’m sure there’s more. I know this isn’t the 90’s anymore, the Playmates-era is over, but still: I’d love to see a few of them!No-one wants to buy DIS merchandise...
Rumor was that it was too "gun like" even with the orange tip.I wish they would release their phaser from Disco :-(
Apparently McFarlane presented nothing related to Star Trek at Toy Fair 2019. Take what you will from that.
I never bought that rumor.......how can others make an exact replica but McFarland can't? I think Anovos was pissed that it would cut into sales of their overpriced $500 version if people could get the same thing for $40.Rumor was that it was too "gun like" even with the orange tip.
QMx is supposed to be making one as well, it'll likely be a solid piece (i.e. no electronics, like their 09/ID phaser), and retail around $80-100.

I printed my own and painted it up. I am happy with it and didn't have to shell out $500.That doesn't make much sense either, as obviously Anovos didn't sign an exclusive agreement on the phaser. McFarlane probably just got cold feet about how profitable it was going to be.
McFarlane claims they didn’t want to sell it with an orange tip because it ruins the authenticity
The back of the packaging for both figures promotes three upcoming Star Trek items, listed as “coming soon”: the Discovery roleplaying phaser replica, which has been the source of some controversy, as well as figures of Michael Burnham from Discovery and Spock from Star Trek: The Original Series.

At San Diego Comic-Con, TrekMovie was told by a representative of McFarlane that they are also working on Star Trek: Discovery figures for Saru and L’Rell.
