I have to laugh at the idea that this forum is all Axanar all the time and poisoned. People keep posting stuff in this forum and mostly the response is crickets. If this community is fading it's because We as a group aren't participating in the threads. You want a vibrant community here? Fucking watch the films and give feedback.

You know who you are. :)
1) I hope we can all be kind and civil to one another - always. We disagree? Sure. We bash? No.
2) I agree with @Maurice and I apologize as I know I'm guilty of this. I have been moderating various forums since, no lie, 2002. And one thread runs through every single forum experience: The forum denizens get the forum/site they make, and that they deserve. So, what does that mean, actually?

It means when people don't make new topics and then point at the fact there are no new topics, well, the solution is in their hands. It means when people complain there's no new blood, or newbies won't stay, then no one's stopping them from welcoming and engaging newbies. It means when people say the older members are leaving, there's nothing stopping them from engaging with people, and making friends, long before someone wants to flounce outta there. And it also means, when people complain about no responses to their topics, there is nothing stopping them from commenting on others' topics.

Any artistic community is going to do better if the group interrelates and interreacts. You critique my writing. I watch your film. We both applaud or criticize someone else's drawing. Another puts up a photograph or a photoshop job and asks for feedback. And gets it.

Which brings me to #3.
3) All forums are multi-way streets. To make this one not just be the Axanar-shit show, that means making and participating in other topics. If that's what a person wants, then he or she has that power. It's in your hands, folks.

Agreed on all points. I would also add, sometimes we need to self reflect. What am I putting out into the world, or threads, and why? Is it constructive—which, of course, is a personal question and answer.

thanks for releasing this ahead of time, it has now been removed from unlisted status.

The interview will be published at 8.30am Brisbane time tomorrow. (2.30pm PT)
Great interview Matt
I do enjoy listening to Christian Gossett. what a learning experience it would be to work with him someday. I'll sweep floors, dump coffee grounds, just allow me to take notes.
I love your pure Australia accent that comes out from time to time. "haters" takes me back to "I just stepped off the corner of The Haight and Ashbury"
Not making fun of it. My wife may be fluent in English, born and raised in Russia which she often reverts certain words or sentence structure back to her home country. It's kind of cute watching me attempt to decode it....lol
One thing I'd enjoy hearing about from Christian or someone else thrush into that type of negative situation. How long before one fully disconnects and moves forward to new and exciting projects? Is there life after Axanar? That answer is well above my pay grade

On another note: Negativity vs Creativity . It's a lot like when anti matter, negativity meets matter, creativity. They cancel each other out.
....... 2nd thought, that might be a subject for a different thread.
See you next time in the zone.

thanks mate - that chat really got "quite cosy" - by the fire with a glass of scotch ... I really like it, it only happens sometimes!

for everyone else, I have made the video private... although no one signed up for membership so I should just make it live ;).

Here in America we say "Shit Happens"
Normally Youtube posts a notice that the video is private and think before you share.
I see that no notice was posted and I watched .... Damn these old eyes .... I see why someone could mistaking share it.
That stuff is top of the game of what you do best!

Interesting interview with Christian.

So does that means we might have a new catchphrase in this debacle as Matt put it?

So, instead of...

"Where's the movie, Alec?"

...we now have...

" when's the movie, Christian?" ;)

(Remember, you could raise $100,000 over two parts!)

guys, i want a piece of the action. what would happen if i launched a 50 grand "Axanar - A Star Trek Fan Film" fundraiser? could anyone do anything?

Not if you actually spent the money on the fanfilm. It's within the guidelines so you might not run afoul of CBS/Paramount. Peters might squawk and threaten, but as long as you don't use any material unique to his axanar, he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Yes go for it! LOL, legally Alec could do nothing about it. Alec will list you as the 'King of the Haters' though.

The only downside is, Axanar is now a tainted name that is tied to Alec, so not sure you could raise the 50k for it.

i'm sorry, but at this point i think i'm determined to attempt to make some cash off of that thing as well.
