I would SO love for the new captain to be T'Pol.

wasn't the USS Intrepid a "Vulcan only" ship? Starfleet was curiously segregated during that timeYes, but I didn't take that as a guarantee the replacement captain would be Vulcan. In TOS I don't believe we saw an alien Starfleet captain, but I could be way off base with that, it's been a while.

Well, Starfleet is a "combined service."wasn't the USS Intrepid a "Vulcan only" ship? Starfleet was curiously segregated during that time
There's been a Decker call out (most likely Will) though not seen so far. So Will may have been a 4th year cadet on Discovery. But it's fascinating to see this era, and I hope we get to see Decker, Garth, Tracy, Stone, Garrovick, etc in some form.
They could make some reference to Surgeon General April, that would be good.As of 2270 he was a Commodore and Ambassador-at-Large. Could be interesting to bring him on the show, but if so, I want Dr. Sarah April too, since she was CMO of the Enterprise.
My theory is that during TOS time SF was more like NATO; Enterprise was an UESPA ship under the command of Starfleet. Other member planets had their own space organisations but their ships likewise operated under the joint Starfleet command.wasn't the USS Intrepid a "Vulcan only" ship? Yeah, me too. Though one raised on Vulcan.Expect a Human captain.
I strongly suspect, given Pike's popularity, that his fate on Talos IV might be undone to get more mileage out of the character. No post-TOS work ever confirmed Pike died on Talos.I still would be open to that idea I had awhile back when I felt a cool tv show would be one about Pike,VIna and various aliens that were enslaved by the Talosians as they helped rebuild that world and it would also have a "Matrix" or "Legion" style feel to it due to the fact that illusion would be a way of life for people on that planet.

I think the best way for Pike going forward is to set a series in the TOS movie timeframe, with Saru, Number One, Stamets, Culber and Tilly working together to find a cure for Pike's delta radiation poisoning. They then retrieve him from Talos in the first episode, Pike is granted command of a brand new starship, and they all go on adventures in the TOS movie period without having to worry about contradicting too much.
Yeah, sure, why not.I strongly suspect, given Pike's popularity, that his fate on Talos IV might be undone to get more mileage out of the character. No post-TOS work ever confirmed Pike died on Talos.

Just what we need to see, another human captainyes, but that's the season 3 Captain. I bet 100 bars of latinum it is either Decker, Enwright, Travers or Stone
A recurring theme here is Saru's arc. I think he's on his way to getting the big chair permanently, and i hope that happens. He's too cool a character, and it would be nice to have one of Trek's "outsiders" finally get a permanent command. Spock became a captain but relinquished command immediately to Kirk and he doesn't seem to have cared anyway, Data was killed, T'Pol: a big if and oddly still possible, Barclay found a different kind of success.Just what we need to see another human captain
Starfleet reeks of Terran privilege. If it's meant to be a reflection if viewing humanity then the message seems to be white males will always rule somehowA recurring theme here is Saru's arc. So yeah, be nice to see a non-human AND someone that doesn't seem like they were born in a gold shirt earn their shot at it.
The chief engineer is a Grizzela and has been hibernating.Saru should be captain. They still have a chance to diversify the crew more if Discovery's mysterious chief engineer ever actually shows up.
T'Pol would be nice, but would Jolene commit to an entire season?
The chief engineer is a Grizzela and has been hibernating.
Yeah. Too bad she would have to wear one of those terrible Discovery uniforms instead. She committed to four seasons of ENT, so I don't see why she wouldn't do so here.
I'm sure she'd be thrilled at the chance to wear a decent uniform, anyway.![]()
I don't know if she hibernates, but if she does, that would explain her absence in the last episode. What about Reno?
