What's so great about Pike?

I'd like to see them switch to the yellow/red/blue Discoprise costumes. As for the original TOS outfits, that's never gonna happen.

If the Discoprise is what the Enterprise "always looked like" in this era, then maybe the new colored uniforms are the same uniforms that Kirk and crew "always wore" ten years later (and what Sisko wore in Trials and what Mirror Archer wore in IAMD).

It should be interesting to see what people think of S3 if it's the same as S2 minus Pike. It'll also be interesting to see if S3 is given a "Calypso"-influenced shake-up in S3, making the show more mysterious (and I'd argue even better), but if they'd think it would suck just because Pike isn't there.

Not sure he's there as something new. He's comfort food. But the acting and writing are there, so it's all good.

Sooo...Pike is like root beer. Just like the Federation.

I'm sorry but Bakula is the worst lead the Trek franchise has had, in my opinion. And I love him in Quantum Leap. He was just miscast as Archer. SMG is far more relatable to me. Michael is not perfect, but she's trying to come to terms with who she is, who she wants to be and what she believes in. She's not the captain, so she has a different skill-set and role to play in the narrative. Bakula had this weird cadence, where it seemed he was just reading the lines. There was no spark there. It wasn't a good fit for him. Then the writers gave him stupid situations where Archer came off as an asshole like in A Night in Sickbay. Also the episode where he hijacked that civilian ship and stole their ship part, thus stranding them for years possibly, because his mission was more important. So much for those Federation ideals.
