In the lap of squalor I assure you.
1, There's only three shows I can think of that are as out of order as Committed, Season 3 and 4 of Til Death, a spy drama called Chaos and Don't Trust the bitch from from Apartment 23.

2, Josh and Jennifer did another romcom sitcom together a decade later.

3, When you give up and find Committed online, the episodes are still out of order and you have to piece it together using wikipedia production order lists.

As far as I know the only Disney Afternoon show to be completed is TaleSpin, which got its last 10 episodes on DVD in 2013 thru Disney’s movie reward program, before going into exclusive release at Walmart in 2014 and finally a wide release in 2015. The only major non-release issue with the DVD’s is that the pilot movie is presented in its 4-part syndication version, rather than its 2-hour edit.

A downright scandal that this incredible funny show isn' available on DVD.

For awhile too, I refuse to buy it as the credits removed 'Love and Marriage'.

It's too bad. Maybe it just cost too much for them to get permission to use the original song.

I think there is an article that the estate owners of the song also don't like the show. If i ever bought the DVD I'd have to play a YouTube clip of the correct song and mute the dvd song. :)

I'm annoyed the later seasons of the original Ducktales cartoon aren't on DVD. I think as far as it goes is Super Ducktales, which was Gizmoduck's introduction, but no more. Which is a shame, since all of the episodes he's in are pretty great. I feel I wouldn't have liked it as a kid without him.

As far as can tell, the second season of the Invisible Man series (2000-2002) still hasn't been released for Region 1.

It’s to bad that Disney won’t let another company, like Mill Creek or Shout Factory, license the Disney Afternoon shows. Really, if all that Disney is going to use for these shows are VHS-quality masters (rather than rescanning the film for even better Digital SD masters like DVCPRO or Digital Betacam or even some HDCAM HD masters for Blu-Ray), I would be fine with Mill Creek cramming 13 episodes on one disc and putting out a Complete Series set that had all 91 episodes of Darkwing Duck on 7 discs. Now then if they used better quality masters (according to Wikipedia Darkwing Duck is apparently streaming on Amazon in Germany in 16x9 HD Widescreen for all 91 episodes) then I wouldn’t want that manny crammed onto one disc but spread across say 14 discs at least. (And if there are HD masters then 14 Blu Rays).

EDIT: I just saw that Disney released the last 25 episodes of DuckTales on DVD back in Sept 2018 but only through the Disney Movie Club.

    Woops!

I might be late to the party here, but the blu-ray release for QL is said to have all the original music intact. I've not yet seen the episode to which you're referring, but music is there for numerous other episodes I have seen (I just got the blu-ray set - looks amazingly good).

I didn't even realize that they made a 2nd season.

Turns out that I was wrong, I just randomly stumbled across a used copy of The Joe Schmoe Show Season 2 at Zia.

    Dragnet (1950s)

There are lots of shows still needing to be restored/released but those are the two I'm waiting on. Dragnet is more understandable but Boston Public is a early 2000s show so shouldn't even need any work to put a dvd (or better Blu-ray) release together. As far as I know Boston Public isn't even available anywhere online for streaming.

I'm curious if the copyright is actually holding anything up or not. If they still have the episodes on film then it wouldn't matter which ones they actually still "own" as long as they are the only ones that can clean the episodes up and release a complete set. I guess there is not a lot of demand for old B&W shows like this but I love the 60s version so I'm really interested in seeing it in a way where the quality is decent enough to let me actually focus on the episode itself.

Crime Story only had 2 seasons. The second season finale ended on a cliffhanger.

    I know. ;)
So it's not available on DVD, or anywhere else at all.

A few years ago CBS released the “Official” Seasons 1 & 2 of “The Beverly Hilbillies”, and finished the series, even though various low budget DVD’s had been released of the first 55 episodes that had entered the public domain.

But with the 50’s Dragnet, it was pulled from syndication before videotape playback was common, so most film copies were returned. Whereas, with “The Beverly Hillbillies”, it’s been kept in syndication so stations still had their 16mm films which they either transferred themselves or got new tape copies of the syndication prints from the original production company years ago and now copies of those episodes have gotten out as stations have thrown out their old 16mm prints or old U-Matics (I.e if a Station was upgrading to HDCAM, they might’ve copied their U-Matics to Digital Betacam, so that they could play them on their HDCAM VCR’s)
or people recorded them onto Betamax and VHS as they were broadcast in the 70’s and 80’s.

But Dragnet episodes like “The Big Smoke” that Shout released on the 60’s Dragnet DVD’s, are still copyrighted, even though Shout used a 16mm print.

But with the current Dragnet episodes that are in the public domain, if someone wanted to, they could scan the 16mm prints and clean them up, provided the dirt was not photographed into the picture (just like “Metropolis”) and present the episodes in HD on Blu-Ray or streaming. Of course the best transfers will always come from the original 35mm prints that Universal has in their vaults.

All of these are available in Region 2 (UK) and Region 4 (PAL). I don't know if every season of Maid Marian is available but the first season at least is.

Agree about Muppet Babies, though. Although it's one of those shows that I suspect probably wouldn't stand up to the nostalgia filter if I saw it again.

If the episodes are in the public domain, that doesn't prevent the original studio from releasing them in higher quality official versions. CBS/Paramount did that with the early seasons of The Andy Griffith Show and Warner Bros. did that with the old 1940s Superman cartoons.

Speaking of better prints of public domain things, have there been any higher quality releases of the 1954 Sherlock Holmes TV show with Ronald Howard? I have a 2008 Mill Creek release that crams 13 episodes onto each disc but it's clearly remastered from very poor film prints. The sound is really worbly in places.

That reminds me, I was watching an old black and white episode of The Avengers on TV and I saw a bug crawling across my TV screen. But when it flew away, it completely disappeared. I realized, "My god, that bug is actually filmed on the telecine print of the episode!"

Last I checked, all 4 seasons of Maid Marian have been released in R2 but that doesn't help me in R1.

You're probably right about Muppet Babies but I'd at least like to see it now that I'm old enough to actually recognize the live action references.
