I shudder to think about the existence of a Terran Emperor worse than Georgiou.

I do not recommend reading any MU books then.

If the potential series is "under development" then they're not nearly to the point where they would be making a pilot.

I meant one of those pilots they pitch to the studio, not one the audience sees.

Georgiou's reforms might be what lets Spock be in Starfleet.

She ate Kelpians. While not technically cannibalism, please explain to me how it's not exactly as horrific.

Guess it depends how nice they taste?

Not even remotely canablism though as it needs to be same species.

I would suggest that from Georgiou's perspective that Kelpian's view of themselves as a prey animal and therefore "fair game" as food is relivant from a moral and ethical standpoint.

How is it in any way less morally wrong?

I highly doubt the series will linger on topics like Kelpian recipes. They'll probably do/show us something new instead of rehashing the most gut wrenching scenes from Disco S1... it was tough sitting through the ganglia-eating scenes.

Huh, that's an interesting take on it. Individual objections aside (Saru), if Kelpian culture as a whole accepts their role as food, as indeed the Short Trek shows, then it would be insulting to Kelpian culture not to eat them, indeed it would be a form of cultural imperialism to try and stop it. From a certain point of view.

Can we judge all cultures on a universal morality? If so, what is that universal standard and the source of moral certitude?

Ideas that would be intresting to see:

S31 screwing over the romulan, leading to the romulan black mailing the federation into accepting the 1 sided treaty banning cloaking. A event so terrible it made the romulan despise the federation even more yet make them terrified of war with star fleet.

S31 helping the Klingon chancellor use protomatter against a rebellious house, leading to the Klingon paranoia and terror at the later genisis device.

S31 being involved in the omega molecule screw up that took out a sector that Paris mentioned.

S31 teams up with the tal shira to screw over the breen due to them being considered too advanced and a threat. Result is 100 years later the isolationist breen out of revenge join the dominion to get back at the federation, romulan and Klingon who also tried invading them.

S31 dealing with the ferangi in trading for tec, resulting in the ferangi very sceptical views of the federation, IE quark refrencing federation self righteousness and hypocrocay all the time.

S31 find a borg ship and trying to steal it's tec (ie a transwarp coil) leading to the the excelior program and great experiment. Then finding out borg technology doesn't merge well with fed tec, hence why the excelior transwarp drive failed and 7 of 9 had trouble building a drive for voyager.

The series could also delve into and explore the debate on if starfleet is military or not.
You should show a divided starfleet that's not sure itself with some realist admirals knowing they are in effect a military but with limits, hippy deluded admirals who think it isn't and everything is roses and sunshine despite fighting a war and those allied with S31 (like Cartwright from undiscovered country) who are militaristic and would if able go off the deep end.

You deffinatly have some like Cartwright, even a prime verse version of Admiral Marcus would likely be militritic.

And with the recent war it would no doubt be a hot button topic.

I think they only see themselves as food for the predator species of their home planet.

Interestingly enough, it is not clear if the Ba'ul, the prey species, is from the same planet.
