Things that frustrate us all

Annoying is Sky telling us our fibre will be activated remotely, but BT show up to connect a new line.

And the house is a mess and the engineer can’t get to socket because of unopened toys from Christmas. Still, I know not to buy so much Lego next time. Four Lego sets, dumped in a corner, forgotten about.

The vanishing items problem is imo caused by washing machines and tumble dryers. They spin so fast that in the midde a tiny black hole forms that's just big enough to suck something in before it collapses again. Usually, these black holes feed on socks. Under certain circumstances a larger black hole can form which then reaches out beyond the machine and randomly sucks up other items like books, keys, bills, small change, single earrings, headache pills and wallets.
In case of the Legos maybe the black hole collapsed before it could suck them up but after it had pulled them together. Is there a straight line between Christmas tree, point of the Lego deposit and washing machine? That'd support my theory :D

Annoying thing today: my boss. I wrote a presentation for him on Friday and this morning he has already called 9 times to correct figures (which afterwards turned out to have been correct in the first place and that his edit was wrong), change the wording, delete and re-add statistics etc. I think I'll hide out in my lab in the afternoon and "forget" to reroute the phone :D

Forgotten LEGO?!? Oh, the horror! I would have all ALL of those sets opened the moment I got them. :(

Have you noticed how some objects are hiding at the time when you need them the most and they show up later when they're no longer needed? It's as if they had a mind of their own... and nasty dispositions!

Or...you hold onto something for so long that you decide you can finally let it go. Then, the moment it's gone forever, you discover that you need it for something again!

Hogwarts Great Hall, Arago’s Lair, City Fire Engine, plus Lego compatible crane, and a petrol station.

I spent Boxing Day building a bus and bus station, a pizza van, a burger bar and a pirate island. They’re already in pieces and in the big tub. Along with the millennium falcon that took two days to build the year before. Even the doctor who sets are nothing but a pain in waiting on the bedroom floor.

For shame. :(

My dad used to be confused by LEGO. He thought that you could only build what was on the box and was amazed when I came up with my own creations. I didn't get LEGO often as the sets have always been so expensive, but I ended up with quite a large hard suitcase full of bricks by the time I moved out.

This was before licensed LEGO sets like Star Wars, Marvel, and Doctor Who, etc. LEGO Space, of course, was my favorite, but my prized possession at the time was my LEGO fire station as it had the segmented clear garage doors. Before that, it was the segmented tank-like tracks that I'd traded my cousin for. I hadn't realized that he thought it was a temporary trade, but as he lived in South Dakota and I lived in Minnesota, I didn't bring them with me the next time we visited. He was kind of upset by that.

A lot of my Lego came second hand, and the sets I did get were the lower mid range, like coffee shops or cottages.

I still think Lego is way too expensive so I often get them the compatible sets. There is a shop in town that does a pic n mix tub for £4. Lego is an easy choice when the grand parents ask what to get them. I brought all of my old bricks out of storage before Christmas for the kids, and I enjoyed rebuilding my old favourites with them. It’s one of the best toys ever.

I agree.

I'm also really happy that they have LEGO sets geared toward girls now and I feel this could have a profound effect on girls' participation in STEM.
They’re getting better. I would like to see more mechanical and electronic elements in the girl sets though, even if the gears are pink.

I really do believe that you can blame the majority of parents for that fact. They don't want their girls playing with "boys'" toys, so the pretty colors are to satisfy the moms and dads out there that are stuck on traditional gender roles.

But yet, more gears and motors would be great!

Some days you have butterfingers, and no matter what you do things seem to escape out of your hands, furniture seems to get in your way when you're walking barefoot, milk/coffee keeps dripping on the kitchen table and/or the floor, you hit your head on a beam in the attic that you thought was a little higher the last time you went there...

Sounds like it would have been a good day to stay in bed.

Understood. That's most days for me.

In fact, I've been considering changing my name to Murphy.

I don't like it when someone signals to turn -- usually it's left, but sometimes it happens with right too -- the vehicle behind them decides to immediately change lanes to avoid having to wait, often without even looking first. Sometimes the lead vehicle is able to turn without ever having to stop, and the trailing vehicle behind them has already gotten into the other lane but immediately swerves back into the original lane.
