Things that frustrate us all

Scribble, are your doctors open to trying unusual alternatives? Staphylococcus species get very easily immune to artificial antibiotics but they hardly ever resist herbal ABs. Bathing the wound in chamomile tea might possibly kill the bacteria. At any rate it can do no harm. Still, you should ask your docs.
Also, there is an antibiotic called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TyrothricinTyrotricin. It is seldom used and therefore bacteria have not yet had a chance to develop immunity against it. Over here it's over-the-counter and available as powder or a gel, depending on whether it's for wet or dry wounds. It's highly effective on Gram-positive bacteria and Staphylococcus happens to be one of these. Maybe your medicine men would be willing to give it a try. I am not sure if the current customs restrictions allow me to send you some, but I can find out.

Well, the problem is that the infection is in my bone, not my skin, so I'm not sure bathing in anything would help.

They also want me to keep the surgical site dry.

My doctor has prescribed Doxycycline 100 twice a day for two weeks.

Yes, that's the standard treatment but I assumed you had already been given the same antibiotic after the first surgery. Don't drink any alcohol during these 2 weeks - it interferes with Doxycycline's effectiveness. The liver removes not only the alcohol but also a portion of the Doxycycline and if you drink alcohol, the process gets faster. This way you end up with too small a dose in your blood to be effective.

Nope, I was Amoxicillin before.

And don't worry, I discovered years ago when I was taking psych meds that alcohol essentially erased any effects they had, so I haven't had any for many, many years, even now that I'm not taking psych meds. :)

When the GPS is not up to date and there's a new street organization (like one-way streets that go the other way!) that makes it more trouble than help and you can't find anyone to ask for directions!

True. Getting old is quite frustrating. Like when you realize that you can no longer do things (physical things) that seemed so easy a couple of decades ago. Well, it still beats the hell out of being dead, doesn't it?;)

getting old(ish). My hip joints have been hurting that badly lately that I can't sleep properly.

:(

My mom is dealing with hip issues right now and she's having a tough time of it. :(

Does it?

Almost every day I play a game of "What new pains will there be today?" and "What body part didn't I even realize I had until it started hurting?"

I know. When I was young there was (almost) always a reason when one of my body parts hurt, (e.g. it was hit, I had exerted myself too much, I spent all night in nightclubs, not to mention other things that aren't mentionable...)

Today I don't need any of it! It just hurts for seemingly no reason!

I'm staving off aging as long as possible by training for marathons, Spartan races and Ironmans.

I can do way more things than I could do when I was 22. :)

And there's always a reason why one of my body parts hurts. Because I trained too hard.

I guess when I hit 50 it will catch up with me in a hurry.

very likely, JP. I used to do athletics. Prob is that the more strain you put on your joints, the faster they'll wear out. I've had arthrosis in my fingers and toes since I was 30. For the last 25 years I managed to protect the other joints but now my knees and hips start to show first damage. Must try to build up more leg muscles to stabilize the joints a bit.
Having an opinion and people making you feel like you’re undeserving of said opinion.
What you need is a sign like the one on the pinboard at my office! It says "I don't need your opinion. I already have one!" :D

Annoying thing today: I have a deadline to meet with a project and can't go on with it as I'm still waiting for data from a colleague. I hate being dependent of others!

When you bite an apple that looked delicious but turns out its taste is bland as if it was ripened without sunlight.

Bus drivers that can't keep the timetable. Some are good at it but some are really bad at it. Today I told the driver of the bus that I would be ten minutes late for work due to his tardiness and he just scoffed at me. He is the one that is the most tardy of all the drivers that drive the buses I usually take.

Your link doesn't seem to be working for me. :(
