Literary Science Fiction fans have always looked down on (at best) to outright despised 'Star Trek" (be it TOS, TNG...et. al.) from day one. "Trekkie" was the derogatory term they coined to be able to differentiate a 'true' fan of actual Science Fiction as they saw it.
Not everyone. Some of us liked Star Trek and Outer Limits as much as Clarke or Asimov. Everything should be judged and enjoyed on its own merits.
Well the Orville's S2 Ratings seem to have stabilized over the last two episodes: https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-orville-season-two-ratings/ Compared to the overall S1 Ratings https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-orville-season-one-ratings/ I hope it's still high enough so its fans get a third season, but hey it IS FOX here, and there record on renewing Science Fiction shows speaks for itself, although there is the MacFarlane aspect, meaning that as long as Family Guy is going strong, they may want to keep Seth happy.
They can move it to the CW - They'll get a Voyager-esque show back, and maybe enough people will still watch it. OTOH, the cast seems a bit on the older side for what they're used to. Mark
They try for a 50/50 split between Warners Bros, and CBS Studios. When the schedule winds up leaning more towards WB productions, CBS typically takes an ownership stake in those that tip the balance in WB's favor.
Well, Disney will be the Orville's owner after their purchase is completed. They can always port it over to Hulu (which they'll own controlling 60%), or one of their numerous basic cable channels.
Hulu or Freeform would probably be most likely. If it can't support a Fox audience, I can't really see them even trying on ABC.
