The idea of an Andorian raised by Vulcans would have been an interesting concept. Would have preferred that over Burnham.

There is an Andorian on the ship somewhere, he was mentioned in the first season.

The only Andorians I recall from Season 1 were in the Mirror Universe episode "The Wolf Inside." They were part of the resistance against the empire, not among the crew of the ISS Disco.

I like Burnham, but that is an interesting idea. Though I think having a character like that to be the front of a brand new show is a bit too inside baseball for non-Trek fans. It would require some knowledge of Enterprise where the Vulcan-Andorian conflict was prominent. Further, Enterprise didn't flesh out the Andorian culture/history enough (I wish they had incorporated the Andorian stuff from Trek Lit.) so there wouldn't be much for non-fans, or even fans, to grasp onto to see the differences and struggles that an Andorian raised by Vulcans might deal with. Arguably the Andorian would face prejudice on Vulcan, but so would a human, perhaps to a lesser extent, but they still would. Keeping the character human was easier and allowed for the audience to more easily identify with them. Though before Discovery premiered I thought that Burnham was half-Vulcan. I would have been fine if they made her half-Vulcan, just made her journey opposite to Spock's, like she was a half-Vulcan who was learning her Vulcan side or something to that effect.

We saw them twice. In the mirror universe on that planet and in the penultimate episode of season 1 when StarFleet boarded the Discovery.
Scroll up and look at what post LizStargaryen was quoting.

We were talking about Andorian crew on Discovery herself. One was mentioned, but never seen.

Anson Mount has been rocking the Captain's chair so far I think a Pike show would be a great addition.

Personally, I love to see an Enterprise show with Pike and company. Anson Mount has been brilliant so far in his depiction of Captain Pike.

I seriously doubt it would ever happen.

Well, they went through the trouble of casting Number One, so it certainly seems possible...

Well, the same question could be said about Terral, Cornwell, or any other high-ranking officer from the 2250s on why they never were seen in TOS TV or film. They were obviously off doing their own thing...
I think Cartwright is the most obvious omission.

In fairness, there may be an answer to seeing Cornwell in TOS.

I see absolutely no reason to think they are the same character.

As for Terral: He's already an Admiral now, so it's unlikely he is Tuvok's father. In Tuvok's youth (during his time on the Excelsior), his father was serving aboard the Yorktown. That's all Tuvok says, that his father was serving aboard the ship. If it was Terral and he was using the Yorktown as his flagship, Tuvok would have said so.

I suppose Terral could be Tuvok's grandfather, but not father.

I'm quite sure in the real world, we use "serving" as shorthand for service in the military, even if they are high ranking generals or admirals. I see in the news how generals/admirals "serve" all the time.

So Tuvok's father serving aboard the Yorktown doesn't preclude him from being Admiral Terral. That could just be shorthand way of saying that the Admiral was doing his military duties aboard the Yorktown.
