News Georgiou Section 31 Series officially announced:

According to this speach MU Georgiou was liberal and reformist who had to play by the rules of the empire. Otherwise she would have been dead a long time ago.

I would classify MU Lorca as an unreliable narrator.

Given what we actually see of MU Georgiou, it's clear that she's not "liberal and reformist" by any stretch of the imagination. More like, a bloodthirsty butcher who sees nothing wrong with eating sentient beings and killing pretty much her entire senior staff on a whim.

I'd like to point out that although I think this show is a terrible idea, I will watch it and am open to having my mind changed. If they're going for something ultra-dark where we're not supposed to cheer for a genocidal space cannibal, that's cool.

Michelle Yeoh can be very charismatic and can definitely carry a show.

It's too bad the time placement doesn't allow for Julian Bashir to be on the show. One of the more fascinating aspects of DS9 was how Bashir kept doggedly trying to foil S31's plans, only for them to get away with it. And Michelle Yeoh's Mirror Georgiou character's way cooler than that Sloan guy. I'd pay for a scene where Bashir arrogantly thinks he's destroying Section 31 only for Michelle Yeoh to show up out of nowhere and beat the tar out of him, with poor Bashir realizing even his 'plot device' genetically engineered status won't save him now.

Gee, they should just put this scene in the Picard show and handwave how Mirror Georgiou didn't age until the 25th century.

Studios should really should stop announcing things as if they're definitely happening and then backtracking on it. It's a horrible trend and makes them look terrible.

Even on this site fan reaction to the announcement was very negative, almost to ME level hysterics, (;)) so I am not surprised the studio may be second guessing that decision

They may be thinking a Like/Enterprise show is a better bet, especially with the positive response they have had to Anson Mount.

It all depends on how well Ethan Pecks new Spock comes across, if the response is positive I can't see CBS ignoring that.

They may be waiting to see how fan reaction to her character goes this season. If Yeoh is lauded once again, that could be the clincher.

While I think Midnight Edge is an absolute bullshit artist just making stuff up, the walk back on this along with no S3 announcement (these days new season announcements very usually seem to come from seeing the ratings on the first 2 episodes) does make me think that CBS might be at least second guessing this revival of Star Trek.

The problem before is that they had nothing to hold up CBS All Access really without Discovery, but now the platform is finding it's own footing and with the Jordan Peele Twilight Zone series coming which we all know is going to be a smash hit, I would not be surprised if this era of Star Trek is not massively wound back if not shelved all together after Picard.

My prediction last year was that Discovery will get 3 seasons and I'm shaky on even that at this point.

The season two announcement wasn't until five episodes into season one.

I'm kind of on the fence for this series. I don't think Michelle Yeoh can carry a series. To me, she's not cool enough. Good actress, but she would need a lot of good characters with her to make this work.

I am a little interested in the character though. How did she rise to Emperor in the mirror universe? The last we saw of that universe before DSC, Sato was the emperor. What happened to her? Was she killed? Is Georgiou her descendant? It might make a nice connection. I guess there are ideas out there, but I am much more curious about the Picard series than this one.
