My theories are really unfounded, considering I haven't seen any of S2 yet, but...

Where are the Romulans in all this, I wonder?

I have a feeling we will be seeing them before everything is done. And then Starfleet can redact all that info like with the MU to preserve canon. Hiding the Bad Vulcans from the rest of the Federation makes more sense than worrying that the MU will disrupt all of society (which it didn't after Kirk & the gang came back and presumably told everyone about it.)

If we see them it's fine. If the DISCO crew sees them, the usual internet meltdown.

Wasn't NO ROMULANS rule number 1 in the writing room?
It's a good rule. No need to get rid of it.

    I don't recall that.

All they said is starfleet can't see them, they never said the audience couldn't.

I would love to see the Romulans reappear, in a similar manner they did in ENT. Show a conflict or situation that is being manipulated or orchestrated by the Romulans, but with only the audience aware. The crew can discover who was behind it in the end, but perhaps with some uncertainty.

Another option is having a nefarious Vulcan antagonist who the audience learns is really a Romulan.

It wasn't until years later that I found out that Romulan with V'Las at the end of the Kir'shara arc was a Vulcan from earlier in the episodes, Talok.

Apparently they only did that because they didn't have the budget to bring in another actor.

The Romulan outfit and forehead ridge completely threw me off.

I still suspect that T'Kuvma had some help from them. I think they offered him the cloaking technology, (possibly through an intermediary so he wasn't aware of where it came from) knowing full well what he wanted to use it for.

Though I doubt they'll have anything to do with the red angels... unless it is them, but with access to an Iconian Gateway.

Personally, I'm still suspecting Iconians right now.

I've heard the deep space pilots talk about them. They're the most beautiful creatures in the universe. They live on the moons of Iego I think.

They sure do look like Iconians though.

They humanoid and feminine. There are tons of species with that archetype. Lots of humanoid species in the Galaxy.

They look like angels because thats what the plot required.

They still have the option of revealing (perhaps only to us) that the Romulans were the manipulative power behind the Klingon War. It would even make sense as an allegory for our real world political problems.

The Logic Extremists on Vulcan are a loose end that definitely needs exploration, especially given their connection to Burnham. The Romulans might be manipulating their cousins again, as well.

Perhaps the "logic extremists" ARE Romulans, sewing dissent among the Vulcans.

I don't know if it has been mentioned already, but about that Preservers theory – and I don't even know how I would feel about it should it turn out to be true; I'd rather they invent something new than create another potentially fanwanky homage – it's interesting that we saw a Preserver obelisk way back in “Context is for Kings”, when Burnham zapped through the mycelial network. It would lend credence to the Red Angels/Preservers somehow being related to the network.

Isn't T'Kuvma's ship and it's cloaking device very ancient?

the ship was ancient, but the fact that he had to give the cloak to the other houses probably means it's recent.

Didn't he give it to them to make the other Houses support his crusade?
