Red Angel Theories- Post Here

While I love Star Trek Online as much as anyone (I actually have a lifetime subscription), I would caution from using that lore to make Discovery theories as I find it very likely the new Picard show is going to completely bulldoze STO.

As for STO, they'll probably literally have Q in-game snap his fingers to explain how the game drastically changes to fit the Picard show in a future update.

Yeah, I'm not saying STO is canon. I'm just saying Star Trek has many times mined ideas from non-canon sources such as novels and the animated series. No reason they couldn't get an idea or two from STO, but then do something completely different with the outcome.

And they replace his popular catchphrase with "Suck it STO!"

I'm about to head out. Before I do, I want to say I think Culber will be brought back in physical form by the Red Angels. Whether or not this Culber is Human, something more, or something else, I have no idea.

Oh come on, everyone knows with Alex Kurtzman running Season 2 that Culber's body was frozen until Starfleet was able to dig up some Augment blood from the Eugenics wars, at which point he was resurrected.

The only mystery will thus be why such blood was never used in future Trek canon, i.e. Tasha.

If this guy/gal was wearing a fancy spacesuit of some kind, it might look the same...

... ... A Preserver from STO.

I dunno about the Red Angel, but Discovery has now visited two out of the seven red bursts. At both there were people who were in immediate mortal danger of dying. These people were actually human. This to me suggests that - somehow - the galactic-wide signals were not only meant to attract rescuers, but meant to attract human rescuers. Given Discovery is the only ship we know of with the range to do this, it means the entirety of the signals were meant for Discovery.

An additional element added that might indicate that Hugh Culber could be involved in some way.
hummnn....

That lines up with what Doug Jones said in an interview.

... ... A Preserver from STO.
STO treats them as the same species as the ancient humanoids, which doesn't make much sense.

With the DS9 themed update, they even had Salome Jens record some lines for a holographic recording of the female one seen in TNG.

This isn't really a theory but I was just thinking the Red Angel(s) could just be Alex Kurtzman's version of J.J. Abrams' mystery box, something that is there to create intrigue, but won't necessarily be explained.

As of "New Eden," here's mine: they're the Preservers from TOS.

Taking people from Earth and transplanting them? Check.
Taking group(s) specifically who are in danger of being wiped out? Double check.

And it appears they're leading the Discovery to places where they can save people in trouble, which is not inconsistent in with the protective purpose of the obelisk we saw in TOS.

When Burnham took her trip through the Network in Context is for Kings, one of the locations featured a Preserver Obelisk.

Other than the early Peter David books (Imzadi, Q Squared), I really haven't followed any novels. What have they mined from them to influence the shows? I know Star Wars has pulled from their expanded universe, but I never heard of Trek doing it.

Yeah, and they don’t want other ships. That is why Enterprise got disabled.

Future Spock (a CGI Leonard Nimoy) is behind the Red Angels, and he is trying to save his foster sister, who he happens to also know is the only person capable of stopping the real threat. He first tried communicating directly with his younger self, but it failed, and the "time meld" drove Younger Spock insane.

I noticed this exchange on Twitter:

Bahia Watson (the actress who plays May) said:
WHO AM I? the people want answers.

Wilson Cruz said:
You’re a ridiculously talented, beautiful and kind human and I love and miss you to pieces. So excited for people to continue to see your work!

Bahia Watson said:
i love and miss you too you marvelous wonder! thank you

Considering Cruz wasn't even in New Eden, I think it's a safe bet that Watson is going to be around for more episodes, and likely will get to share some scenes with Cruz. Since they're both kinda dead at this point, that would suggest Culber will be a ghost like May. The question is, how are they linked to the Red Angel -- did the Mycelial Network let Culber transcend into some higher power, and if so is he the Red Angel or someone opposing it?
