I'm not into the lore of making all trek fit because it can't. I don't accept any books or movies or prequels that attempt to alter what was done on the original tv series Star Trek retroactively.
Even if they were better than the original ? But that’s just my opinion. I believe it alls fits and there are just a few mistakes. So let just agree to disagree. As the talosians would say to us in this situation: You have the 22nd century and I have the 23rd century. May you find yours just as pleasant.I'm not into the lore of making all trek fit because it can't. Yeah, yeah, but back on topic, Gabriel. What would you have done if you had the chance to... make Enterprise your own show? Pleeeeeeassse give details? Please please please?Even if they were better than the original ? But that’s just my opinion. I believe it alls fits and there are just a few mistakes. So let just agree to disagree. Well thanks for asking. first of all a better range of ranks and a slightly better theme song. More character development. A few earth side episodes See more earth starships: Daedalus class ships, intrepid type, warp delta, all that stuff. Maybe even some fleet or something. More MACOs (simply because they are awesome). Start the series with 2 episode show the final fitting out of enterprise. Enterprise leaves fully ready of course (weapons, sensors, etc). Archer tones done his anti Vulcan a bit. Wait more to introduce photonic torpedos. Tone down the temporal war. Increase episode time. Instead of an episode taking a few days their time have it take a week or 2 so to compensate for the kinda low speed. Give phlox more medical staff (and make them appear more). Include the Romulan war ( it may take a while but it will be worth it) but before the war have archer just explore and do some diplomacy.Yeah, yeah, but back on topic, Gabriel. That would've been the ST: Enterprise I would've wanted to watch. Gosh, a Robert April 1701 series would be something I would dream to see.Well thanks for asking. first of all a better range of ranks and a slightly better theme song. More character development. Possibly show the founding of the federation for real (no holodeck sim).
And maybe at the final episode they flash to the launch of Enterprise NCC-1701 and have archer there and end the show with this line: I just hope that captain know what to expect when commanding a space ship named enterprise. (Or some thing similar) also the ships own by the United earth starfleet use NC and UES (United Earth ship). The ships have nuclear torpedos on board (not total ship complement but enough to not always be running out. Have T’pol Wear a standard uniform when see joins starfleet (and show socials look when he first sees he). And finally. Also no cloaks of any kind. And maybe have a few aliens join the crew. And no transporter till last 2 or 3 season of show and have it go a little more slower. last but certainly not least refit the enterprise to refit nx class (was supposed to be in season 5).
Also one last thing trip gets promoted to captain and commands some ship in the fleet also possibly have phlox join starship. I got tired of a civilian doctor. Drove me crazy when t’pol Was still a civilian and still first officer/science officer. That would've been the ST: Enterprise I would've wanted to watch. Ouch, quite the critic. I don’t think he’s a bland actor I mean he’s pretty good on the other shows including the one that is still running. Now while the cast could have been better the point of this thread is to tweak enterprise not basically scrap it and start over. although I can see why people would want to.Would have avoided Scott Bakula as the Captain, it didn't work. I think that was the biggest turnoff for general audiences, he just wasn't compelling and too bland for a show like this.
I liked the Archer 'Jack Bauer' makeover in S3 and 4. That should have been the character from the start, played by a more compelling man.
In fact, the only actors from the cast worth keeping are Trinneer and Billingsley. Most were bland.
Yeah shatter was very over the top, that’s why kirk was so great. Speaking of Jack Bauer do you think kiefer Sutherland could’ve pulled it off.I like Bakula on NCIS and Quantum Leap, but as a Starfleet Captain... err. I don't think he was the Captain that the ENT series needed. They were really pushing the TOS trifecta concept for ENT, and that would make or break the show.
The biggest part of what made the TOS trifecta work was that Shatner was so charismatic and over-the-top. He brought so much energy and authority to the role. It was easy for Nimoy and Kelley to play off of him.
Some progression would've been interesting to see; there's more to Vulcans than science objectives. I would've liked Tripp to move beyond Starfleet, there should be more to the Star Trek Universe than the military as well. He ends up as a liaison for a Vulcan ship, while T'Pol applies for citizenship on Earth. Also one last thing trip gets promoted to captain and commands some ship in the fleet also possibly have phlox join starship. I beg to differ, and I'm not a fan of the series, but I thought he was a welcome addition from the ludicrous approach of Captain Janeway on Voyager; I found Bakula's Captain well grounded and was enigmatic with his cast which were also great IMO. What I appreciated with Bakula's Captain he was keen on his surroundings and treated his issues with precision. He wasn't trying to be Picard, nor Kirk, but to be his best Jon Archer at the moment; I can enjoy a character who can be self reflective on his character. So when I heard Brannon Braga mentioned Future Man was really Jonathan Archer, it blew my mind because I thought that would be outcome I'd expect with that character and how would Archer resolve it?Would have avoided Scott Bakula as the Captain, it didn't work. I think that was the biggest turnoff for general audiences, he just wasn't compelling and too bland for a show like this.

Yeah it could work but trip probably would have to be really work on himself because he’s a little bit to undiplomatic. In the sense of fact if he tells you the truth whether you like it or not and doesn’t sugarcoat it. So that’s why I like him. Oh yeah and whenever T’pol would be accepted into the starfleet she would have to apply for earth citizenship because you can’t be a member of starfleet without citizenship. Also the MACO and the United earth starfleet would be part of UESPA. And later they get folded into each other so that it matches Kirk saying it is a combined service. And you know something I can see archer retiring a few years after and becoming the ambassador to adoria. He seem to like the andorians. Also before the war I would like to get rid of the situation room and just have them meet in the conference room. I would but secondary stations in its place. So that way if the Bridge gets damage and the consoles explode or something drops from the ceiling then Half the bridge crew won’t get wiped out in one shot or so. I am plus I never like if you have to only been like five or seven people on the bridge. Some progression would've been interesting to see; there's more to Vulcans than science objectives. Yeah he’s fine for the Vulcans but I doubt his superiors on earth would like him not sugarcoating things. I don’t know I never saw him as a diplomatic type but if he were the ambassador to Vulcan he would be a lot older so you never know. Its why I thought Tripp would be an appropriate choice for Vulcan because Vulcans or Vulcanians don't sugarcoat their words either.
As for Andorians, who doesn't like Jeffrey Combs? His Weyoun was the only thing interesting about the Dominion. Combs' bigoted approach to the character showed how much dimensions this Andorian had also he evolved from episode to episode to point he admired humans and was open to change.
I like it but no dilithium is going to far. That ship better have a gym because I need to be strong to always have be caring packs. For the short version, most of the changes I'd make are integrated in to my 'Enterprise era' contribution to the fan fiction forum: The Long Sleep.
In a nutshell:
1. You would not see the Klingons, transporters, phasers, photon torpedoes, or dilithium AT ALL in this series. NO TIME TRAVEL, NO TCW.
2. Good guy weapons would be laser pistols or particle beam weapons. The latter would require a back or belt pack with a mini-cyclotron or some such. Similar with ship weapons: laser cannons, particle beam weapons, and nuclear torps/missiles
3. As in (2), all tech would be bulkier, less power efficient, and generally more of a PITA to use. For example, the 'tricroders' would be scanner packs requiring you to wear a ginormous backback and carry something like a selfie-stick with a big sensor transceiver on the end of it.
4. Vulcans would not be pretentious d-bags who've been infiltrated by the Roms- they'd be emotionless frickin' VULCANS.
5. The preliminary contacts aside from the Vulcans would be the Andorians and Tellarites. They would prove to be interesting, recurring aliens who run the gamut from good to bad, and everywhere in between. Lots of time exploring their home worlds and culture, and building diplomatic ties.
6. The Orions would be the real baddies of the show- very little to redeem them. And no, the slave girls would not be running the society- they'd be slaves.
7. Lots of storylines about space being vast, and the crew being a long way from home in a well-built but experimental ship. If your warp drive is damaged and you can only do Warp 2, you're now YEARS from home instead of months- it's no laughing matter and some of the crew would have trouble with it psychologically. The need for remote starbases would be apparent very early on. Ship's top speed would be something like Warp 4.5 or so. (No dilithium!)
8. Boomers, their ships and culture, and getting them moving faster than Warp-2 would be a big part of the show. Corporate warfare as unscrupulous business concerns tried to fleece them because the boomers out there would be caught between a rock and a hard place once faster ships started blowing by them on the space-lanes.
9. In the last couple seasons of a 7 season run, you'd finally see the Romulans. Actually, you wouldn't- because nobody 'saw' a Romulan until Balance of Terror in TOS. No cloaking devices. The Roms would be a nameless, faceless, competent, brutal enemy. Bad Vulcans!
10. No references WHATSOEVER to 24th century cultures/aliens/discoveries. No Ferengi, Borg, Cardassians, etc, or references to alien species/cultures discovered in the TNG era.
11. Dealing with the rise of a 'back to Earth' movement after the first time Earth gets a bloody nose on the interstellar stage.
