Really, you gonna be that person, so excuse me for not be perfect like you. But I did fix some of the errors. And by the way this tread is about jellico and Picard not punctuation.

When it comes to a war situation the whole thing about Jellico's discipline turning them into an efficient war machine I doubt because we never actually see him take that stuff into battle. So how much did that discipline improve their chances I'm not sure. We don't even know Jellico's battle record or if he has any special maneuvers based on his name, IIRC we just know his expertise was negotiation with the cardassians.
We see Picard at war in Yesterday's Enterprise, and in Parallels a universe where Riker has apparently survived that far in a universe filled with borg - not bad considering how fast they can wipe out ships. Both times they are surviving where the rest of the federation is at war and not doing well. So I'm not sure if the cew really benefitted from Jellico's style, they seem to be ok without him enforcing it

Picard seemed to be good at commanding a warship in 'Yesterday's Enterprise'. Alternate future but still Picard.
What's the difference between voting "Both" and "Neither" if the comparison is between the two?

Yeah but that picard Had to went through 2 decades of war and as we all know war changes people. I doubt that picard would be like normal Picard. P.S. since that reality took place at around the same time as the episode it’s not an alternate future.
Good point I wrote this when I was a little tired. Maybe both is if you like them and neither if you don't.
I was thinking the same. His demeanor is noticeably different from "our" Picard's as it is.
Well, you could interpret "both" as: "J. is better in some areas than P., P. is better in some other areas, depends how you look at it / the situation ", and "neither" as "it doesn't really matter, overall there's no difference in their "quality"". They only become equivalent when you insist on 'quality' being a one dimensional measure, 'better' being a comparison between two single numbers.
I'll vote "both". I think Jellico was actually a very good captain for dealing with sneaky backstabbing groups such as the Cardassian military and intelligence, it's just that he didn't match well with Ent-D 'culture'. Picard is of course the learned diplomat who'd you prefer in most 'friendly' or 'unknown' situations .
Now add in the upcoming "The Picard Show" and I wonder how many people will want to retroactively vote for Jellico or Cap'n Crunch or Frankenberry instead...
I also suspect that even the Twix Wabbit (Chekov's pet bunny he got in Wenningrad by the widdle owd wady who inwented Scwotch, of course, would get more votes...) Personally, I can't wait and will hold out to make sure I know Picard that much more...If nothing else, Jellico did tell Troi to put some regulation clothes on.
Picard was a better captain in the way that he didn't piss off the crew and distance himself from everyone during the first few days on the Enterprise.
(shrugs) Jellico was there to do a job, not to make friends. Picard wasn't the most personable captain early in the series, and I imagine Jellico might have warmed up to the crew over time.

How is this even a question? Jellico is is a perfectly fine captain, but it is ludicrous to compare him to Picard who is a living legend. There is only one captain in the entire history of the Starfleet that could be compared to Picard, and that captain is not Edward Jellico!

Jellico would make a better Admiral than Captain, particularly a deep space Captain such as one wants for missions of the Enterprise, which are often of an exploratory nature.
Jellico would not fare as well in the psychological onslaught involved with exploring strange, new worlds, as an explorer-by-nature that we see in men like Picard and Kirk.

Hey in a way he was a good captain. Just not right for the enterprise. Remember he did save Picard’s ass. Don’t believe just me go back through the thread, see for yourself, people made some good points. But if you don’t like him that’s ok just don’t go any where near the navy from what I hear he’s similar to their captains.
