I just wanted to remind everyone that The Good Place is back tonight. I haven't decided yet if I want to watch this and Brooklyn Nine-Nine or The Orville.

Yeah, that was a great touch and was far more subtle than Jason's "what kind of messed up place would turn away refugees?" comment (even though I was amused by it nonetheless).I love that insight about how well intentioned actions have negative side effects because the world is complicated. That speaks directly to a modern audience too.
I've been wondering the same thing at least during this season and perhaps during the second as well. That especially seems likely considering the establishment of Mindy St. Claire's situation.I do wonder: will our characters eventually decide they don't want to live in the Good Place? I feel like the show might be setting up a situation where the characters realize the real Good Place is actually boring and they don't want to live there forever. We kinda got a glimpse of that in this episode. We saw that the Good Place is populated by overly enthusiastic, "never bend the rules" bureaucrats who will take forever to do anything. I can see our characters not finding that appealing at all. Eleanor will certainly hate that. Of course, if they do reject the Good Place, they won't want to go to the Bad Place either. Maybe our characters will ultimately go to a Medium Place that is more suited for them?
Of course, the Good Place is populated with overly-bureaucratic committees who are far more concerned about correct procedures and making sure things are done right than actually doing what the committees are formed to do.
When was the committee from?
The oldest of those people might have been cavepeople originally.

Are we sure the committee were mortal originally? Are the accountants? Maybe the committee are just more cosmic beings that help run the system. We might not have met any actual good place people yet.
I haven't read the rest of the thread yet but is anyone else listening to the The Good Place podcast hosted by Marc Evan Jackson? Now that I've caught up on the series, I've started listening to it and it's full of great behind-the-scenes insights and analyses of each episode with regular guests from the show itself. It's very much in vein of The West Wing Weekly.
