I feel the same way I felt when I heard Justin Lin was going to direct Beyond and unfortunately that prediction turned out to be true. Beyond was a mess. So, my reaction is 'It's happening, let's see what happens,' while knowing I probably won't like it, but hoping I'm wrong.

Aaaaaand I stand corrected on the issue of an R-rating. I thought Tarantino wouldn't do that in his mainstream movie. Apparently Tarantino gonna' be Tarantino.
Also, and this is not a good sign, it means Paramount is desperate. And willing to turn their once kid-friendly new Marvel-look-a-like mainstream blockbuster franchise into an R-rated, smaller niché space movie like Prometheus.

Indeed, this is probably a good move on Paramounts part (except for them trying to be cheapskates about the actors, who signed up on a different type of beast). And I think this is definitely a move that could help the Kelvin.Trek movie in it's quality.
But it's also bad news for Paramount, since they now have one reliable blockbuster franchise less, and they didn't even have that many to begin with. And if something unforseeable happens, Star Trek definitely isn't at the top of their priority list anymore.

I guess Tarantino could send a group of inglourious basterds in a landing team for unchaining to T'jango, a vulcan survivor, who is prisoner of eight hateful aliens that want to extract pulp of him to rewrite again the history of the Trek universe. Or something like that... ha-ha-ha :hugegrin:

As of right now, absolutely nothing.

Maybe post-2020 Paramount Pictures will ressurect movie Trek. Maybe they'll involve Tarantino, but it seems like their connections were though Bad Robot and they'll have moved on.

    :sigh:

The problem is that Tarantino is a director who has protection from editors, he's one of those film makers who is genuinely free to make whatever the heck he wants creatively, so the only inhibitors on him will be if he himself sets rules about being faithful to Trek. I've got a feeling he's more likely to want to take it to a different place ;)

Didn't the James Bond producers pass on him when it became apparent his ideas for Casino Royale weren't mainstream enough?

if Clarkson Trek is effectively dead then maybe they could use Tarantino trek to revive the franchise? A big name director would possibly gather a lot of interest.

Why not take a risk with the franchise instead of just trying to copy other trends as they're going out of fashion? Worked with Wrath and the weird time travel movie about Whales...

I say get him on the phone, but I would imagine, that 1: He's gonna be busy with the next MI movie in the next couple of years, 2: He's gonna be more expensive to hire after the success of his last 2 MI outings. I would imagine that with the initial choice of Clarkson, money was a factor as she's hardly a household name.

If this goes ahead, I predict this project will end up on CBS All Access and set within the Prime timeline, either as a movie or miniseries.

I'll believe it when they're actually filming. Right now I imagine it's just trying to drum up some empty buzz.

Yep. I really hope it does happen, but we’ve already had Kelvin 4 announced - twice - to no avail.
