Honestly, I like what they were trying to do with the VFX sequences. Some of the stuff about treating space more three-dimensionally and not like a big lake is similar to what JJ Abrams did in the '09 film, but it's something we've seen far too little of in Star Trek, even after they moved away from motion-control photography.

What I dislike is that it's ruined Prelude for me. I can't look at Alec's smug face knowing he torpedoed what could have been a good thing all because he got greedy, and then everyone else had to pay for his underhandedness.
Pretty much. Prelude how some interesting facets going for it but the BTS and attitude that undergirded the whole project soured it big time for me.

The whole thing became a mess.

Some lazy cross posting...
What Lane meant to write...

Lane: A moment ago, you said that you ordered Lt. O’Halloran to tell his men that the YouTube channel wasn't to be touched.

Pedraza: That's right.

Lane: And Lt. O’Halloran was clear on what you wanted?

Pedraza: Crysstal.

Lane: Any chance Lt. O’Halloran ignored the order?

Pedraza: Ignored the order?

Lane: Any chance he forgot about it?

Pedraza: No.

Lane: Any chance Lt. O’Halloran left the groupchat and said, "the failed filmmaker is wrong"?

Pedraza: No.

Lane: When Lt. O’Halloran spoke to the Haters and ordered them not to touch YouTube channel, any chance they ignored him?

Pedraza: You ever served in a Hater Squad, son?

Lane: No, sir.

Pedraza: Ever served in a hacking forum?

Lane: No, sir.

Pedraza: Ever put your password in another man's hands and asked him to put his password in yours?

Lane: No, sir.

Pedraza: We follow orders, son. We follow orders or sock puppets die. It's that simple. Are we clear?

Lane: Yes, sir.

Pedraza: Are we clear?!

Lane: Crysstal. Blogger, I just have one more question before I put Director Gossett and Director Burnett on the stand. If you gave an order that the YouTube channel wasn't to be touched, and your orders are always followed, then why would that channel be in danger? Why would it be necessary to move its content to a different account?

Pedraza: It was a substandard account. The content was being transferred...

Lane: That's not what you said. You said the content was being transferred, because the content was in grave danger.

Pedraza: That's correct.

Lane: You said it was in danger. I said "grave danger"? You said...

Pedraza: I recall what I said.

Lane: I could have Colin’s Kindle read it back to you...

Pedraza: I know what I said! I don't need to have Colin’s Kindle read it back to me, like I'm...

Lane: Then why the two orders? Blogger?

Pedraza: Sometimes men take matters into their own hands.

Lane: No, sir. You made it clear just a moment ago that your men never take matters into their own hands. Your men follow orders or sock puppets die. So the YouTube channel shouldn't have been in any danger at all, should it Blogger?

Pedraza: You snotty, little *******

LeBrun: Your honor, I'd like to ask for recess.

Lane: I'd like an answer to the question, Star Trek Fans.

Star Trek Fans: The community will wait for an answer.

Lane: If Lt. O’ Halloran gave an order that the YouTube channel wasn't to be touched, then why did the content have to be transferred? Blogger? Lt. O’Halloran ordered the Hack, didn't he? Because that's what you told Lt. O’Halloran to do!

LeBrun: Objection!

Lane: And when it went bad, you cut these guys loose! You had Terry sign a phony transfer order, and you doctored the log book!

LeBrun: **** it, Lane!

Lane: You coerced the webmaster!

Star Trek Fans: Consider yourself in contempt!

Lane: Blogger Pedraza, did you order the Hack?!

Star Trek Fans: You don't have to answer that question!

Pedraza: I'll answer the question. You want answers?

Lane: I think I'm entitled!

Pedraza: You want answers?!

Lane: I want the truth!

Pedraza: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has creative standards, and those creative standards have to be guarded by corporate shills with attorneys on retainer. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Lane? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for your YouTube channel you curse the Axamonitors. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know, that The Axanar Channel’s death, while tragic, probably saved thousands of Star Trek fans. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves Star Trek fans! You don't want the truth, because deep down in places you don't talk about in secret Facebook groups, you want me writing that blog. You need me to write that blog. We use words like "honor", "code", "loyalty". We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of accountability that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you", and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a keyboard, and write a blog post either way, I don't give a ..... what you think you are entitled to!

Lane: Did you order the Hack?

Pedraza: I did the job that—-

Lane: Did you order the Hack?!!

Pedraza: YOU'RE .......... RIGHT I DID!!

OK, I get the reference to A Few Good Men, but I'm confused on how that relates to what's happening here. Did Lane actually accuse Carlos of hacking the Youtube account? And he admitted he did?

Yes Lane accused "the Haterz" of attempting the "hack"........NO Carlos did not hack or admit to any such thing. Just a parody someone posted elsewhere.

What appears to have happened is there were multiple people logging into their accounts all over the US........Google/YouTube thought it nay have been compromised so locked it down till the owner (LFIM) logged in to confirm it was legit. Both sides seemed to have rushed to judgment on what MIGHT be going on.

In his initial post on the subject Jonathanne Conway implied that the "haters" had attempted to hack Alec's account, based on the fact that neither he nor Alec understand how the Internet works. He later "clarified" the matter but never fully retracted his claim.

Slow Lane said:
AND NOW HACKING????? Seriously, is this what it's come to? Is this what's necessary to stop a fan film from getting made?

Actually, Jonny, I'm pretty sure all you need to do to stop a fan film from getting made is give it to your friend Alec to make it. Why hack computer systems when your target is phenomenal at sabotaging himself?

Well, at least now they have something else to whine about endlessly.
So what was it that caused all this if it wasn't a hack?

Heh...that was all Tobias Richter, with conceptual art from Sean Tourangeau (Titan Designer). AP had nothing to do with it.

And yes, it rocked. But even that footage was steeped in delicious irony, as it contained prime-universe TOS-ized versions of Abramsverse vessels, from a series of movies vilified by Peters as "not true Trek", unlike his own stuff. Sometimes ya gotta wonder...

Reminds me of the old "only Roddenberry Trek is 'true Trek'. TMP is so boring but ST II is wonderful." ;)

The moment someone declares their vision "True Trek" is the moment that my days of taking them seriously are coming to an end.

Why does this question feel like a really complicated way of saying "Why does this thread exist"? Oh, wait, I think I know the answer to that question:
