Your CBS series ideas

2381

The destruction of two planets is followed by a message.

“We are the Borg. You will be annihilated.”

Continuing attacks soon lead to a full scale Borg Invasion into the Alpha and Beta Quadrants resulting in the Federation entering into a multi-world alliance to battle them.

As the Borg attack planet after planet, ships from the Federation Alliance are sent to prevent the attack and destruction of an Independent world on the fringes of Federation space.

Adelphous IV

Shortly after Voyager’s return from the Delta Quadrant, this has been the location of a top secret joint project between the Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Star Empire, and Cardassian Union to develop a prototype ship to use against the Borg.

Unfinished, the prototype ship is unable to assist in fending off a calculated Borg attack and the fleet is nearly destroyed.

Before the Borg cubes are able to destroy the world, an anomaly appears and the planet begins to disintegrate. The planet, surviving ships, and debris of the destroyed are sucked into the anomaly.

Unknown Galaxy

Adelphous IV reforms in orbit of a class K star in a galaxy beyond the known universe, along with ships and debris in orbit.

Some debris from wrecked ships is caught in the planets gravity as it reforms and rains down to the surface creating a ship graveyard planetside along with the one in orbit.

Surviving ships are heavily damaged and require varying amounts of repair to be operational, limiting travel to only shuttles.

For the most part, everything on the surface survived undamaged.

Series Possibilities

The mystery of the anomaly and who or what is responsible for it is at the forefront of the first season. They have hope of finding a way home but it is tempered with the realization they could be stuck there forever.

The damaged ships limit the exploration to the range of working shuttles. This instills an urgency to repair the ships. There is also the possibility of the prototype ship that is near completion in a construction facility beneath the planet's surface.

The mixture of powers on an independent world creates a possible struggle for power. What shape will a new government take? What would a new federation look like as it raises from a memory of the one that came before?

What inhabited worlds are nearby? If any, they offer a chance for assistance if not hostile. What technology may they offer and will it be accepted/traded for or will the idea of a Prime Directive survive?

Summed Up

A story about the people on this planet who've been blasted into some unknown reality and whom are struggling to decide what to do and how to survive. Let them be like the audience, wondering what the hell happened that got them there. Some characters will be trying to piece together an answer to what happened and how to get back, while others will accept the hand they've been dealt and decide they have to figure out how to live with each other in this forbidding new place. These two groups can have conflicting goals over limited resources (we have to use these ships to build a means to get home vs. we have to use these ships to build a means to defend ourselves or build a new civilization).

One World, One Ship, An Unknown Galaxy, A New Federation

Recently re-watched the "Gambit' episodes of TNG. I think it could be used as basis for a new series. A small ship with a crew of mercenaries (various aliens) going around the galaxy for adventure and profits.

mini-series sequel to DS9
mini-series sequel to VOY
mini-series sequel to ENT (and undo the disastrous finale)

Tim Russ already tried that, with his "pilot" fanfilm which was never actually pitched to CBS as promised, Star Trek: Renegades.

Early 25th century show. Far removed enough from Nemesis to give it wiggle room but close enough to allow for TNG/DS9/VOY actors to make a handful of cameo appearances. Deals with the collapse of the Romulan Star Empire (and rise of the Romulan Republic?) and the apparent Destruction of the Borg (and the rise of independent Unimatrix Zero-survivor led Borg fleets).

Remember how the original concept for Discovery was to have an anthology where one season was in the TOS Era, another was in the TNG Era, and then they'd go Beyond? I think they're still going to do that, except in their entire line, not just in one series. CBS has its own version of the "TOS Era" and now, with the Picard Series, they'll have their own version of the "TNG Era". I think eventually they'll have a "Beyond Era" (not to be confused with Star Trek Beyond). And I think we might have possibly already seen it with "Calypso"...

... which brings me another thing I'd like to see: a series based on "Calypso".

Scott Bakula is.... Star Trek: President Archer.

The man behind the Gazelle Speech, the guy who let his dog create an intergalactic incident by pissing up a tree, is running the nascent United Federation of Planets. Less West Wing and more Spin City, as his team of advisors (probably including time cop Daniels and T'Pol) attempt to head off catastrophe after catastrophe. Malcolm is his personal bodyguard.

Gary 7, in the Cold War geopolitical setting, with real history mingled with retro futuristic styles and themes.

Ring Ship series in the local star systems, exploring different lifeless worlds and piecing together an ancient jigsaw. Human crew only.

Wheelbarrow of The Gods. Contemporary series following a group of ancient alien conspiracy theorists tying ancient mysteries to visiting Star Trek alien species.

a "West Wing" style show regarding the Politics of the Federation.

I think the one of the previous poster already described it.

Here's the pitch for a sister series to the Picard one:

Gates McFadden returns as Dr. Beverly Crusher, now a captain and head of Starfleet Medical. She leads and trains a specialized team of hot, young doctors who travel from world to world, aiding in planetary disasters and viral outbreaks. It's ER meets Gray's Anatomy meets Star Trek... it's Starfleet Meds.

A limited-series adaptation of The Autobiography of James T. Kirk. It's the only Trek novel I've ever wanted to see onscreen, plus it would allow us to look at some classic trek in a new light.

Sounds like the new Picard series will be something like this, except they must have a specific purpose instead of looking for profits. I should get a co-creator credit.

It could be argued that with the possible Emperor Georgiou/Section 31 series on it's way, CBS are struggling for Star Trek series ideas. We already have:

Discovery S2
Short Treks
Picard: 2399
Emperor Georgiou/S31
Lower Decks
Starfleet Academy
Khan/Ceti Alpha V
Pike's Enterprise

Either in production or rumoured for CBS All-Access. Let's give them a little help. What Trek series would you like to see?

I'd love a Young McCoy series, where he's married, on Earth working at a private practice and perhaps solving crimes and battling strange alien diseases. In fact, Young [insert established Trek character here] would probably be my go-to idea.

Scotty as a late teen/20something with his engineering mentor.

Young Guinan and her boyfriend Q on Doctor Who-ish adventures in time and space.

Sarek and Amanda, where they're raising 20something Sybok and teens Spock and Michael while dealing with ambassadorial crisis'.

A Romulan War series has to be inevitable, probably starring Jeffrey Combs.

CBS is struggling? Why not hire new staff and work as an ensemble or something? I didn't know they were seeking new writing staff or ideas consultants - that's cool. If people help for this tv show, what compensation is provided in return? Where can people sign up?

And a lot of those given ideas are prequels. Looking at every prequel ever attempted in sci-fi in general, how many have worked? The usual questions and more persist, like who the primary target audience is, what purpose for the prequel there is and what to do with it, and so on - there are more factors...

Never mind that Scotty doesn't need a mentor. Just make him a Marty Stu who multiplies "fixed by" dates by 4x. He was bordering one in "The Enterprise Incident" where, with zero technical knowledge of completely alien technology, he could fit it in and get it to work as intended in a span of 15 minutes (and not hinting at knowing how it cloaks the ship, since the Enterprise was a much larger ship than the Romulan Bird of Prey they nicked it form, and if the device's cloaking radius wasn't large enough and Scotty's whining about the risk of power overload (not inaccurate!) would be more to do with the basic unit itself, not necessarily any field output that (again) he couldn't have known anything about within the time factor - I'd be here all day postulating all possible minutiae). It's all still easy to roll with it because the episode succeeds at being a thrilling espionage adventure - and fun on top of everything else (it is an overall very well-written episode!), but it's as common a trope in sci-fi as it is an ironic one, that incompatible technologies are strung together miraculously and within an impossibly short period of time by the techie person. So one just has to roll with it, which is easier to do if the surrounding material engages the audience.

Guinan/Q felt like a hidden backdoor to a possible pilot in "Q Who". It wasn't followed up on, assuming there was any intent to do a spinoff or hint at a bigger relationship and by season 5 it all got scrapped in favor of cheesy soap opera anyway.

Star Trek: Uprising

Humans bad. Robots good. Cue revolt.

There aren't enough robots in Star Trek, so a series set from their perspective would be mint, showing how bad we all are.

Until then, check out the Futurama episode "Mother's Day" for an example of robut uprising. :D
