Another weak episode, but there looks to be a big battle looming so hopefully there is a pay off.

Seeing what Rollo was up to would be much more preferable to most of what's been going on for the last few episodes. Also as predicted, Magnus sucks

Yeah...I had hopes for Magnus, but oh well. Doesn't help that Ubbe has outright rejected his claim, although I was amused by how Lagertha stalked around him like a cat considering her prey.

Gov Kodos called it: Faux Lagertha was sacrificed...and people are already not buying it. Of course, that's not stopping Ivar's madness one bit. Hvitserk lingers cuz Reasons and the poor Seer has finally been put out of his misery. Not that it was a surprise. I knew the moment Ivar was in his hut, the Seer was going to die. Oh well.

Wasn't there some suggestions way back when that Floki would become the new Seer?

The vision he had of the dead girl and the death of Seer sets it up perfectly.

Yeah, that would make sense. Wouldn't make up for the pure slog of his storyline but at least will have been for something, because otherwise it's been quite pointless with nothing characters surrounding him.

I saw a reviewer on Youtube commenting on the parallels between Aethelstan and Ragner learning from each other and now their sons Alfred and Ubbe are doing the same. Alfred with the book learning like Athelstan and Ubbe with the battle skills like Ragnar. Also, like their dads, they are both willing to look outside the box of their respective cultures.

I've been enjoying the last few episodes, although they definitely not the best the shows been in the past.
Ivar has finally totally lost, not that he had much of it in the first place. I'm curious exactly where they're going with Hvitserk, they seem to be leading up to him either taking off to try to join up with the Ubbe, Bjorn, and Lagertha or trying to kill Ivar.
Floki's story has definitely been the weakest part of the season so far. I'm really hoping they just pack up and leave Iceland and incorporate him back into the one of the other stories.
Did Rollo go back to France? He seems to have disappeared again.
The stuff in England has been the most interesting so far. I completely forgot Magnus even existed, so his popping back up caught me by surprise.
That didn't occur to me, but I do like that idea.

I did vaguely think about that but I didn't really think it through. That's a great insight. Certainly helps elevate things as most of what's going on now is so mundane and uninteresting aside from a few performances.

I just finished re-watching Last Kingdom. Lot of parallels since lots of the same characters... I keep waiting for the wrong characters to show up in Vikings. I think I like the Last Kingdom Alfred better though.

I actually just started watching The Last Kingdom a few months, and it is really interesting comparing how the two different shows tackle the some of the same characters and the time period. Overall, I'd put Vikings slightly over The Last Kingdom, but just a little.

The show is getting back on track with a much better episode this week. No cutaways to Floki and co helped tremendously.

I thought for a moment during the big battle that they were gonna do a Game of Thrones/Tyrion and only show us the aftermath of the battle and Athelstans speech, but thankfully they didn't.

Can't say I'll miss Bishop Heahmund, but going out because of an arrow was disappointing. The introduction of Magnus looks a lot more interesting now that he's aligned with King Harald, also Bjorn looks like he'll be scoring with another babe.

Bring on the big showdown in Kattegatt!

Good episode and it is nice to get away from the bleak dirtworld of Floki and all.

I liked the battle and I enjoyed Heahmund for the time he was there but he didn't have much more to do other than be soap operatics with Lagertha. I am guessing she will be having some crisis of faith in the next episode or two in the wake of everything. Between him calling out for her and the reference to the Thor's Hammer, gotten from her dad quite poignantly before she killed Astrid, I am guessing she will be on her own spiritual journey for what she wants to do next.

Iceland, I wouldn't be surprised if Floki went and had a Christian conversion before that story is over.

On another note, I am guessing Judith has cancer or something that is killing her and her over the top Godfather channeling is to root out any opposition to Alfred before she kicks the bucket.

I took a few years, but Judith really got some juicy acting to do there, and she handled it brilliantly.

This was probably the best Vikings episode in several seasons. Something about all of the plot lines jived together very nicely. I especially liked how the episode highlighted how Lagertha and Floki in particular have changed so much.

At first, I wasn't thrilled with how the series returned to Lagertha, presenting her as some wild woman, but it quickly became clear that she went through a life-changing experience and once she was familiar territory, she calmed down a bit. I loved the super weird vision/dream/whatever she experienced where she was inserted into the moment of Ragnar's death as well as reflecting on early moment of their relationship, which further highlighted just how much she has aged and changed as a person.

Floki likewise has come to a startling realization of how much the failed Iceland experiment has changed him dramatically, which was cruelly demonstrated with his dire threat to Kjetill of what Floki would've done to Kjetill and his family in the old days. I'm very curious to learn what Floki might find in the cave. In a real world, it'll be just total darkness and perhaps some hallucinations, but Vikings has occasionally dabbled with the supernatural, so perhaps he will meet the gods in some form?
