Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

I've always felt these new Disco Klingon designs would have worked better for another adversarial alien race. The Kzinti, Tzenkethi or Gorn maybe. Just not Klingon. The design aesthetics just don't match up with what's been established before and after in the current timeline.
Yeah, absolutely. If only the designs afterwards were different, it miiight have gone through with a little bit of goodwill. But since the klingon designs both before and after look very, very different in a very specific style - these simply stand out in a bad way.
This is the sole reason I don't subscribe to the Discovery starships line. I actually like some of the Fed ships but I just can't stand the Klingon design.

i'm a subscriber but i emailed them well in advance and had them skip the qugh class. and i'll do the same for most (if not all) of the klingon ships in the collection.

Didn't know you could do that on subscription. Thanks for the info. Still not sure my OCD of "gotta collect them all" would let me only get some of the collection!!

I might be the only person left still talking about the series proper, rather than the Discovery line, but I picked up the Keldon class yesterday. Obviously, it's just the Galor with some extra pieces, so not exactly a groundbreaking ship (We only saw it in two episode, and never in CG form or during the Dominion War).

I do like that it's not just a remold. There's clearly some added texture on the blades and a slightly different deflector as well. I'm hoping to get the Xindi Primate ship as well soon, since my local store got that one in, and hopefully the Lantree a couple of weeks after that (maybe before New Year's, maybe not)..

I did want to ask if anyone in North America (particularly Canada) got the Rick Sternbach concept Voyager yet. I was asking another store about that that and their distributor gives a vague 2019 release date.

I do like the Sarcophagus ship, the design itself and not it being a Klingon ship. Looks like something a Demon from Hellblazer or another demonic horror franchise would command.

I've always been a cherry picker of the line, but I've never had this long of dry spell since the collection began. Haven't picked up an issue since 133 Irina's ship (got it as it looks great next to the Delta Flyer)
Every issue since then I've just not being interested in. I think as I have so many now and they're taking up space I'm being more strict about my choices as compared to 2-3 years ago. So releases like the Keldon and Lantree I can't justify anymore when they're so similar to ones I already own. And then others like Dala's ship or the Vulcan Carbon Creek ship just mean nothing to me. I mean I know the episodes they're in but I couldn't care less about owning a model of them. So we're up to 139 now and I think the next ship I will actually buy will be 143 the Merchantman. Again, everything until then I can give a pass to.
That'll be 9 issues in a row skipped, before this I'd never gone more than two or three.

And though some of the Starfleet ships in the Discovery line look nice, they also mean nothing to me. And the XL lines I have the D & E, was perhaps interested in more but with the big honking errors so many of them have I'm not justifying that £50 price at all.

I willllll however be picking up the Spacedock special, hopefully in UK shops this coming Thursday. Although it was this time last year when the Ring Ship Enterprise was due out, and because of Christmas or whatever reasons it was delayed in various places. So fingers crossed that won't happen again...

I hope they do the DS9 Frankenfleet USS Elkins by the way, that's a Federation ship I'd so pick up

i like the qoj class which is up next after the clarke (got the shipping notice on that one btw). but given that we saw a much more faithful klingon ship in the SDCC trailer this summer, i'm thinking the first season klingon ships will be replaced with more appealing designs and i'll definitely want a model or two there. so yeah not that into having that klingon bus taking up closet space.

Yeah, I too am a cherry-picker, and my gaps have been getting larger. Went from #120 (Bozeman) to #126 (Princeton) because even though I get most Starfleet ships I couldn't bring myself to pay money for the nonsense that is the Yeager, and now I won't pick up another one until #143 (the Merchantman). Not many Federation Starfleet ships any more, and the ones there are don't appeal: the variations of the warship Voyager aren't interesting, and I don't need yet another Miranda variant with the Lantree given I already have Reliant, Saratoga, and Bozeman!

Can’t speak for Canada but in the US I got it from the Eaglemoss Webshop about 4 months ago.

Yeah, the line is reaching a point where they really have to do each and every single little background or one-off ship, because all the major ones have already been made. Which is kind of amazing, to be honest.

I have been a cherry-picker from the beginning - I own less than 20 ships in total. And for me - this collection is a blast! Because not only do I have reasonably sized models of the Enterprise that I can put on my desk without it coming across as weird - I'm also a sucker for some super obscure one-off designs, like Harry Kins future "Rhode Island". Or the Romulan drone from ENT's three-parter, or ENT's Romulan Warbird - the one that looks like a super advanced version of the TOS-Romulan warbird. Though I like to pair this one up with the Ent-A, since we never saw a Romulan ship in that era, and I think it fits perfectly there.

And I look forward to stuff like the Cpt. Protons rocket ship or OV-165, which I love because it's a great futuristic-spaceshuttle design, while skipping some major hero ships like the Delta-Flyer or the Defiant, because it's less about OCD-ing all the major ships, but more about picking the few designs I really love and would never get my hands on otherwise.

^ Yeah, of the core line I have 80 out of the 139 so far. Although actually threw one out as broke it, and another I just threw away when I moved house as I thought "I don't care about this" ( was the Xindi Aquatic, esp as the stupid stand doesn't even work)
So actually 78 now

I have all of them as well, and I mean every line plus specials. All are out on display except for the Bajoran Solar Sailor because it breaks if you look at it & the Glenn.

Haven’t brought up the Deagostini Borg Cubes existence to my wife yet. Though I did mention the Picard show and got a big sigh.

I have a grand total of: x1 (Ent 1701-C) with a delivery notification of second on its way! (Beyond Refit Ent 1701) :D

I’m closing in now on completing my collection - 137 to go! :p ;)
