    Looks like the Picard Series will be premiering at the end of 2019. I don't see a thread on this yet, so first dibs.

    Sounds about right. Several months of prep already, they still got a year for writing, pre-production, production, post-production.... I think some people will be spectical, since it took a few years for Discovery to actually launch (pun intended) but that was the expection, not the rule.

    My guess is it'll be delayed 6 months. Otherwise it'll overlap with Disco S3 and they want the shows spaced out (pun intended) to keep subscribers as long as possible.

    DISCO season 3 won't air until March or April 2020 is my guess.

    I really, really hope they can move beyond the "Star Trek: Shipname/Person" format. Fan films wore that convention into the ground (not to mention DS9, VOY and ENT)

    In an ideal scenario, I think it would be, or should be:

    Picard Season 1 --> Fall 2019
    Disco Season 3 --> Spring 2020

    If DSC S3 gets pushed back... I'll be a disappointed but, not the end of the world.

    ENT didn't have "Star Trek" in its title for its first two seasons, which I liked. I'd be all for the new Picard show being titled simply, PICARD. No need to have "Star Trek" in the titles.

    They'll need to put "Star Trek" somewhere to rake in new audiences and those who have only seen the Kelvin movies.

    At no point have i thought The Picard Show would be aimed at anyone but nostalgic TNG fans. Otherwise it's, hey kids, remember those sexy young Star Trek guys? Well here's a 80 year old man in space!

    Well, the Picard Show need not be solely about Picard. It could be an ensemble piece with Picard as being one of the main characters. I don't think it is mentioned anywhere that the Picard Show is going to be all about Picard only, as if nothing else mattered. Stewart just said "Jean-Luc Picard is back. And he may not be the man you remember."

    Picard Season 1 likely premieres in Winter 2020, so it'll compete head-to-head with The Orville Season 3 ;);)

    What better competition than TNG vs. TNG?

    Maybe they could push DSC S3 up so it's before ST:Picard S1. They could even have the third series ready to go for after Picard.

    I know, it's a pipe dream.

    We don't know in what state JLP will appear in the new series as "he may not be the Picard you knew from TNG" could've meant anything - from an older, cynical, post-PTSD Picard in Prime-verse, a JJ-verse Picard, a Mirror-verse Emperor Picard, or a totally different reincarnation.

    On the other hand, barring any plot changes in S2, Seth-Trek is basically TNG Season 8 :hugegrin::hugegrin:

    I have a theory about where he might be. Could be right, could be wrong, but here's my take: for starters, it'll be Prestige TV Picard not Blockbuster Picard. I also think, as a person, he'll have progressed and regressed at the same time.

    Picard's not a family man. He said so in "Encounter at Farpoint" and told Riker to make sure he projected an image of geniality. Early on in the series it might have been a projection but by the end of the series, I think he really did view them as a family, and he definitely saw them that way by Star Trek: Nemesis. If Picard's not in command of the Enterprise anymore, then that family is gone. That "house" is gone. He might have gone back to being as emotionally distant as he was in "Encounter at Farpoint". That's the regression.

    For the progression, Picard is probably not going to be as arrogant about how evolved Humanity has become after the Borg, the Dominion, and whatever else has happened in the 20 years we didn't see. He might be more humble: about himself, about Humanity, about the Federation, and maybe about life. But at his core he's an intellectual. That wouldn't change, even if his circumstances and outlook did.

    I don't even want to hazard a guess about what he's actually doing as a profession (or lack thereof). It could be anything. Archaeology, teaching, being an Ambassador, resenting life behind the desk as an Admiral, enjoying retirement, hating retirement, suffering from Irumodic Syndrome. Maybe none of the above.

    Lord Garth: This sounds very feasible. I would have pictured an older Picard in a similar way as well.

    In addition, I think the status of his relationship w/Bevelry Crusher would've mattered too. If in 2399 he's happily married to her (which is a less likely outcome based on Sir Patrick's announcement) I think he'll be a more happy and content man. If he's divorced/separated from her or if Bevelry has predeceased him :confused::confused: - as someone in another forum has speculated - he would've had a more bleaker & darker persona, esp. if by that time he has effectively retired from Starfleet and was no longer in contact w/the rest of the TNG crew - the only family he knew in his life.

    In any case, I assume there'll be more lead and leaks about Picard's characterization anytime between now and the series premiere in appx. one year from now, so stay tuned ;);)

    Maybe the whole thing will be Space Pirate Picard, resurrecting his persona from "Gambit"
