Building the USS Enterprise in Blender 3D

I was given a challenge by Adam 'Mojo' Lebowitz who asked me if I could make my Enterprise look more like the 11 foot model, post restoration, as it appears at the Smithsonian. So, I'm not done making changes, but here is the status of the model at the moment.

Epic! If you plugged that into a photo in place of the existing model I think you'd hardly see a difference.

Eric,

Have you given thought to modeling the K'Tinga Battlecruiser from Star Trek: The Motion Picture?

That's very kind of you! I will post the end result when I'm finished.

Just about every day. I'll do the original series first, though.
Going to add to wobble or droop to the underside? ;)

Fantastic work, as always, my friend. :)
Thank you, Scribble! Believe it or not, I seriously thought about adding in the age-related issues, but I don't think I will. At least now yet.

Thank you everyone!

As do I. As do I.

Wasn't sure if that was an age thing or an original "feature". Guess I'ma hafta take a closer look. :)

I admit, even though I grew up with her, I'm not as familiar with everything about the TOS E as I am with the Refit.

@scifieric - Looks pretty close to the Smithsonian version. I just noticed one more thing on this and the previous versions and it is super minor (so apologies upfront) but I think the smoothing value on the front of the engineering hull is too high where it transitions from the flat bevel to the curve of the cigar hull. (The flat bevel is the ring area behind the outer copper rings at the front that connect to the 3 box structures.) I hope that makes sense.

That makes perfect sense. Yeah, I have thought the same thing. Thank you!

Some changes to lighting, the Navigational Deflector Dish, some texture work, and interior lights to the model.

Very nice! I like the more subtle lighting effect on the main deflector. The lighting (interior) really helps sell it.
Bravo!

Eric:
I have a high res color picture of the top of the primary hull (saucer) from when the filming miniature arrived at the Smithsonian. Might aide in your build, especially when weathering your build. PM me your e-mail and I'll send it your way if you need it.

So far they look great. Might be just the ticket to get me pass my dislike of the Blender interface.:guffaw:
If you wait a couple of months, Blender is coming out with version 2.8. Right now, 2.8 is in Beta. It supposedly has an entirely new interface, complete with left mouse click select as a default.
