I'm kind of mixed on the trailer. Hooray, more action and danger (that's sarcasm from me, folks), but the Pike/Spock scene is intriguing enough to explore further.

Possibly. Though why would Pike be surprised to see Spock smile, he saw it a year earlier on Talos IV? And there is the Klingons lurking in the background.

It didn't seem like he was yanking Spock's chain, he seemed genuinely surprised. YMMV.

It sounded a bit more on the sarcastic side to me, though we'll have to wait for the entire context of the scene to know for sure.
It kinda sorta reminds me of a similar question Kirk asked Spock once, but for the life of me I can't remember which episode or movie.

My pet theory it they're retconning some dates (either "10 years before Kirk" or "13 years between Pike and Kirk"), and have the "the Cage" funny Spock happen as a direct result of the emotional events in this season - especially considering the psoducers heavily hinted at Talosians to appear!

It's been a hell of a lot more than just "hints".
Kurtzman came right out and pretty much said (paraphrase) "...There will be Talosians and we will see them..."
