It looks like a monthly sale isn't happening this month. Though the Khan series is still 99 cents, startrekbooks.com has removed the sale page altogether from their front page of the web site.
In regards to the conversation between David Mack and Koric, I feel it is unfortunate that many people under-value the true cost of writing. Writing is something I dabble in (although I work a full time job, only have one book out with another I have been working on for a year and a half), and the amount of work it takes to even release something small is daunting. On top of that, if it is their full time job, these people have the same bills we all have, and unless a book is a major seller, not a lot of profit is made off of them. 99 cent sales, while great for the reader, doesn't put any money in the authors pocket at all in the long run. While many complain at the cost of ebooks vs print, the biggest cost of books in not in the physical printing of the book, but in the time spent actually writing it, doing all the research necessary for it, and keeping the writers home afloat while doing the writing.
