By recurring plot premise I mean the type of event that created the jeopardy, not a multi-episode storyline or arc, like The Romulan threat for example. Several characters that season faced it in different episodes by different antagonists. One character, three times, once alongside another character. It's a staple plot for any action/adventure show.

I am sorry but this is completely opaque to me.

I assumed the actor would be a main character in those movies, damn that’s obscure.

Need to think about what episode would have Data thinking about death but only on the abstract.

Yeah, the answer to my defunct question was Arsenal but I think that it’s debatable whether Troi despite being higher ranked was actually farther down the chain of command in Disaster, as Data was above Beverly.
