News Deadline: Michelle Yeoh in talks for Star Trek spinoff

What's the plot of the new series? Will it be centered on Mirror Georgiou or Prime Georgiou prior to Discovery's premiere episode?

From what I have read it will by Section 31 and Emperor Georgiou.

Here is what posted over at Trekmovie:

While I love Yeoh and Capt Georgiou, I don’t like Emperor Georgiou. While the idea of Section 31 is “kewl” – what the proponents of a Section 31 show forget is they are the villains! I forget what happened with them in Enterprise (cause that was not a good idea), but in DS9 the whole point of their appearances is they are the bad guys. Yeah they are pragmatists, but they are terrible and against everything the federation stands for. Sure, some elements of Discovery haven’t been perfect, but spinning off a Section 31 show is about as wrong for Trek as you can get.

I guess they could redeem it by having Georgiou come around to believe in the Federation and to undermine Section 31, but that is so unlikely to happen.

This is the first big element of revived Trek that I don’t feel I can even get partly behind. We’ll see when it is more than a rumor.

I can't stand Section 31. I've never understood what anyone's continued, unrelenting fascination with this concept is. I really hate it.

That said, I love Michelle Yeoh so much, I'll probably still watch and love this if it ever comes to light.

What I'd hope for is a mini series, not a full-blown show.

I love Michelle Yeoh, and a series based on Captain Georgiou and the Shenzhou would be interesting. A mirror universe section 31 Georgiou? Nope. I wouldn't be in for that. I strongly dislike Section 31, and consider them the anti-thesis to all that makes Star Trek good.

They might as well create a series where Section 31 battles Terran Empire to see which one is more evil than the other in the Trek universe (HINT: Since the proposed series will feature Mirror ex-Emperor Georgiou, now a Section 31 agent, this is a plot that might actually be happening :confused:)

A series based on supersecret missions of S31, for save the Federation against bad guys ... looks interesting.
A thriller, a kind of "magnun" drama in space... yeah.
New places, new stories, new characters.
And how the Section 31 became what it was.
To me, sounds good

Picard show will be optimistic and hopeful - Georgiou's will be dark and depressing.

Both sides of the Trek fan base will have something for them :P

I feel like we’re headed towards a Trek streaming channel. They can fill in around the new shows with reruns of the old, the movies and the various documentaries. Hell, why not make a home for some of the fan productions, too?

Is this possibly 'Star Trek: Revolution' or 'Star Trek: Destiny'?

This could be a very cool action series.

I think "Destiny" is more or less confirmed as the title for the Picard Series.

"Revolution" seems more suitable for a Mirror Georgiou's spinoff. Imagine her taking over Section 31, then launches a coup against the Federation Council in order to crown herself Emperor of the New Terran Empire in the Prime Universe.

Alternatively, she takes over Section 31, builds a new spore drive-powered ship with state of the art firepower. Then she takes the ship to the Mirror Universe so she can reclaim her crown as Emperor of the Terran Empire.

Both sounds like a revolution to me....

I wasn't impressed with Michelle Yeoh's acting in the pilot, it felt like watching Geneviève Bujold in her attempt to play Captain Janeway. The Emperor wasn't much better, I certainly wouldn't want to see a whole show centered around her.

That being said, I think a Section 31 series would fit much better into the post TNG era instead of pre TOS.

I can't stand the whole mirror universe nonsense and the section 31 stuff. I thought she was great as a Starfleet captain, not sure why CBS has to try to disregard the core values of Star Trek and try to make it some gritty show that is not Star Trek. It is very perplexing; who is making these choices??? I don't get it.

Sounds interesting. I hope they use the knowledge that she knows the next 10 years of Prime history in this.
That knowledge could make her very dangerous. I always thought she could make a good for for Kirk in a TOS novel.

As I said in the other thread, a series starring an irredeemable, genocidal, xeno-cannibal? Yikes.

I do hope they're just floating these suggestions to guage audience reaction.

The same morons who greenlighted Discovery, changed the Klingons apperances, and turned Discovery to become just another dark & gritty sci-fi show, I suppose :confused:.
