Discovery Spin-Off Series in the Works?

Its a Midnight edge claim, they can't back up. Everything I can find points to netflix still footing the bill
I’m stunned people take those hacks seriously. Most of their “sources” are trolls on 4chan. I imagine their audience are angry fanboys desperate to hear comforting lies about how the show is ending any day now, despite it being such a success for CBS all access that they want Star Trek on as much as possible.

I am at a lose as well. I am on a smaller trek forum and folks there eat it up like Gospel. Heck, they still think Bad Robot made DSC because Midnight Edge said so. They ate up the claims a few days back that CBS was in a panic and re shooting season 2. They simply will not accept the reality that DSC was not a massive flop they wanted it to be.

It’s sad really. It’s like a cult, but sadder. At least cults have a sense of belonging.

Yeah the amount of Youtube followers they have is sad. They are batting zero, hell they claimed DSC was canceled and the Khan directer was making a replacement last year, before it aired. You can't reason with fanatics in an echo chamber.

From the sound of it, I am more and more glad that I barely know what "Midnight Edge" is. Some sort of newfangled podcast thingie, I gather, with a chip on their shoulder against modern Trek.

They have a youtube channel; and a solid reddit following. They hunt up articles or just make them up and then weave a conspiracy that has little to do with reality and claim"insiders" told them stuff. They have never been right on anything to do with DSC.

Reminds me of Languatron's screeds against NuBSG, complete with endless podcasts and blogs chock full of "evidence" of conspiracies by Universal and Ron Moore, keeping down any hopes of a TOS BSG revival - the one, true Battlestar Galactica. He actually had multiple self-published "books" for sale on Amazon filled with his frothy sputum. Very sad, petty, familiar ground being trodden on by today's Disco-haters.

Pretty much, except people listen to Midnight's Edge and they aren't all pointing and laughing.

It has been talked about for many years. I do hope it happens. And there is a better-than-average chance of it happening if Bryan Singer stays away from the project this time.

There were major plot problems, yes, but I always got a greater impression of a grand "cosmic chess game" between the Ship of Lights beings and Iblis, using the humans and Cylons as their pawns than I got from NuBSG. If TOS had gotten a real second season (NOT the abomination that was G1980), Isaac Asimov was tapped as a science consultant to make the show more...well...scientific. Gone would be the inconsistent and interchangeable usages of "star systems" and "galaxies". It would have been a lot better overall. Sadly, it was the most expensive show on TV at the time and was too much for ABC to perpetuate. And G80 killed it for good.

So, getting to today, there is a pre-production effort that's been going on since Glen Larson died early last year. I am cautiously hopeful that something will come of it, but there have been 3 or 4 previous failed attempts. Just never seemed to go anywhere. Now that Richard Hatch is dead, one of the primary driving forces of a remake is gone and I doubt it will ultimately happen.

Section 31 is just a rumour.
I hope you’re right.

My feelings about 31 are as follows:

S31 is like the lightsaber - the more you use it, the less cool it becomes.

31 were cool in DS9 as we see them what, 3 times?

Then ENT used them. Then STID used them. Then DSC used them. And all of a sudden 31 went from this interesting and mysterious agency to a bit bumbling in ENT, to a massive organisation with buildings in STID to a group that wanders the corridors with black badges in DSC.

By this point 31 are lightsabers in the SW prequel trilogy: overused and less cool than they used to be.
