Discovery Spin-Off Series in the Works?

I'm not sure "Space Hitler" applies here.
For one, Terran Empire wasn't her idea, it existed for centuries before her, and she was born and raised in a society where the things she did were not only normal but expected.
Space Nero is a better fit. Or Space Caligula, since we've already got a Space Nero in Star Trek.

Your idea of popular and my idea are quite different. This echo chamber forum is no indication of what the general population think of the show. CBS all access are disappointed with the show, Netflix dont want it and only desperate trekkies are sticking with it, deluding themselves that its worth their time and money....
Naturally you have clear, unambiguous evidence to support this assertion?

I have given every Star Trek series a chance and liked all of them except DS9. I have zero interest in a Section 31 show, especially with Emperor Georgiou. No offense to Michelle Yeoh, but her character on Discovery is quite one dimensional and boring. Not her fault though. Written that way.

This will be the first Star Trek series I don't even give a chance. I look forward to Discovery Season 2 at least.

since the article says "looks likely to focus" on georgiou in section 31, i'll keep my fingers crossed for a georgiou prequel about the starfleet captain and not the high-kicking empress, that character is only interesting because of the impression left by captain georgiou anyway. however michelle yeoh is the best thing to happen to the franchise since blue LEDs so i'm with her regardless.
My opinion is that it'll end like Netflix's Marvel shows, burning itself out in a few years of overexposure. But for right now, TV Trek is riding high.
hopefully they learn a thing or two from netflix's marvel universe. at least they're announcing shows that are distinct from one another in a way netflix's marvel universe shows aren't.

you say that now...

Star Trek and Section 31 feels like an oxymoron of terms. You want a positive future so a new series might have a mirror cartoon character matched with a dark secret organization?

If that's where we are going, I would much rather have a Tal'Shiar series. We still barely know anything about the Romulans and they have always been fascinating to me.

I want this to be the anti-Star Trek.

I want to see the Emperor fuck shit up.

I want Yeoh at her best, killing people without remorse.

If you're going to give me a supervillain with a heart as the lead character, deliver on that promise. I want to see fight scenes like Banshee!

Then don't call it Star Trek. BSG, to me, was the Anti-Star Trek series, also set in space on a ship.

I'm enjoying these impending boycotts of a show which has a current status of...

*checks notes*

"I wouldn’t say at this point that we are actively pursuing a Michelle Yeoh series but it has been discussed."

I'm down for a limited series Section 31 show, not seven seasons of it, that's too much. Section 31, to me at least, is good when it's done minimally. I don't want to watch a decade of humans behaving badly to protect the Federation. That makes all the good will of the Federation a moot point. DS9 did it right with Bashir being tempted because he had James Bond fantasies. But in the end Bashir chose his friend, O'Brien, AND the greater philosophies of the Federation and rejected the Ends Justify The Means mantra of Section 31. And I'm not sure the people who make Trek today really understand that.

My two cents at least.

This is such a bad idea. There is nothing worse than Section 31 and Emperor Georgiou shouldn't be allowed to run around free.

As Michelle Yeoh is easily one of the better things about season 1 as both Captain and Emperor Georgiou, so, yeah, I already dig this show

Section 31 itself isn't a bad idea. The problem is that since its introduction everything and everyone shady and immoral in the Federation or Starfleet has become involved with or connected to Section 31. Some people can be douchebags without being part of a top secret black ops agency.
