Welcome to the October 2018 Fan Art Forum Challenge! Last month many of us proved that we are well versed in the world of starship design. This month I like to focus on another staple of the Star Trek universe: the infamous space anomaly. Subspace, space-time, temporal, spatial, gaseous, gravimetric, chroniton, quantum, polaron, thoron or anti-time — it's completely up to you. Make it abstract or concrete, a swirling blur of color or a blinding ray of light, drifting through the endless void of space or floating on the surface of some alien world. You can show it on its own or facing a starship. I'm looking forward to what you can come up with! The Rules™ (from the Art Challenge Guidelines): the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views) your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated) Any questions or suggestions? Have fun!
Oh, this is such a cool theme! I have an idea swirling already, but it remains to be seen if it materialises. No questions or suggestions from me
I admittedly didn't draw any of this (nor could I, probably), just composited it together from a couple of random Google Image searches, and added an effect and some text. So if this doesn't qualify for the contest, I fully anticipate that, but wanted to share it anyway: From a previously unreleased early cut of another TOS episode, this is from when it was still titled, "Who Mourns For The Cookie Monster?" (The anomaly, in case it isn't clear, is his gaping maw. )
Hi all! Here's my contribution. I'm too new on the board to be able to post images so I'll link to it instead: https://ibb.co/iATgiL
Dang it, guys - I thought I had this in the bag, being the only submission and all. But now I like one of yours better than mine. I won't say which. Edit: (And the below is not a reflection of that - I'm doing that out of a sense of fair play.)
PLEASE NOTE: This is @RunningValkyrie's submission, NOT MINE, and I'm just helping show the image here since they are new and can't yet:
This is not what I had in mind at the beginning of the month, but Time and I haven't exactly seen eye-to-eye this last two or three weeks, so this "as finished as it'll ever be" image is my entry.
I'm so sorry for the long delay, guys! October was a rather busy month for me and November doesn't seem to be any less stressful. Over the weekend though I finally found some time to hammer out my entry. I'll post the voting thread in a couple of minutes. Cool idea! And I don't think there's any reason it doesn't qualify for this contest. Welcome to the board, @RunningValkyrie! And thanks for entering the contest. I see @USS Triumphant was already kind enough to post your image, but as far as I know the newbie restrictions for posting images is actually no longer a thing on this board. This restriction did exist in the past, but since the last move to our current board software it no longer does. Just add image tags around your image URL [ img ]…[ /img ] and your image should show up. And here's my entry:
