There's some really cool art online now that the new series has started, a mix of old and new.

I love the alt-universe Twelfth Doctor stuff that frequent Titan comics artist Rachael Stott apparently did just for fun. Presumably, having not passed his Time Lord initiation as a child circa "Listen", The Doctor was forced to join Gallifrey's military and eventually fought in the Time War. ...No, not that one. The Lawrence Miles/Lance Parkin one from the Eighth Doctor novels and its spin-off Faction Paradox.

Presumably the War Master didn’t abscond off to Utopia. Or was retrieved.

Same incarnation sequence, just like the Doctor, otherwise it wouldn't be the Capaldi Doc.

They'd still have had give the Doctor more regenerations, though. Given with how the Time Lords brought the Master back, it seems fair to assume that more regeneration cycles were being handed out willy nilly, due to the TIme War (whichever Time War you want to use).

Thirteenth man bound as it were. And can’t the matrix predict future incarnations?

Well... technically, the Time Lords have a rather direct hand in 12's birth. That 12 is so similar to Three, whom the Time Lords also had a direct hand in, points at some underlying idea that this is who they want the Doctor to be but he keeps finding ways to not be it.
