Well, hopefully it's somewhat more clear ;)

I must admit I’d love to see a Stargazer-era Picard. His “origin story” if you will.

Picard taking command of the bridge, learning to become a captain. To me that’s a more compelling idea than Picard’s life after Nemesis.

That being said, we’ve already seen the Stargazer and we know what she looked like thanks to “The Battle” and the ship and aesthetic, etc. would inevitably be changed for modern TV. So maybe going forward to a time when aesthetic trends and conventions don’t apply (because they’ve not been invented or seen yet) is the way forward (pun intended).

I would love to believe that conventions won't apply, but I am highly skeptical that any design put forward by the Picard show will be accepted with open arms.

I think it has a better chance of that happening than, say, DSC’s aesthetics.

I think it could go either way. If they stray too far from what we all recognise as “24th century Star Trek”, like by having Borg implants to work the ship, or they go steampunk, or they have entirely holographic environments like, say the bridge and engineering (I don’t mean just holodecks) and, god forbid, a window where the view screen should be, there might be issues.

There’s going to be issues no matter what they do really

On the topic of windows, mind you, what if early 25th century ships have windows on the bridge instead of screens?

As I have previously argued, much to the consternation of others, I think windows make as much sense as the Bridge being on top of the ship. In other words, none, but there is no harm in doing so.

Naturally, it will be a subject of much debate and hand wringing amongst fans.

Agreed. Galactica’s CIC was at the centre of the ship iirc - which makes much more sense tactically.

I’m vehemently against a window for a viewscreen - have been since 09 - but it’s not going to stop me watching the show :)

I rather like the modern window/viewscreen-with-heads-up-display, so no heartburn here.

I still struggle with why it's such a point of opposition but hey, IDIC and all that

I won’t lie: I hope to see more new post-Nemesis starships in this coming series!

That’s prolly my biggest reason for wanting to watch this, right now!

    Love me’ some starships!

Sorry, just jumping in mid-stream here. But which Galactica are you talking about?

oldBSG command's center was explicitly near the nose of Galactica. That was established explicitly when a Cylon Raider kamikazed into it in "Fire in Space," which I recently rewatched on MeTV.

Also, they were always "closing the shield" during battle, meaning the main window of the bridge area.

If you're talking about nuBSG, then "Never Mind!" /Emily Litella

    No worries :)

I was talking about nuBSG - I’ve not actually seen the classic series

They have a lot of creative license with ships post nemesis. After the dominion war and further borg invasions. Last we saw star fleet it had been pretty decimated. A lot of room for new starship classes thatay be very different then before - with very new and experimental tech.

Agree. Sir Pat is a great actor and Picard was a great character, but this is about tapping into that very large TNG audience and bringing them to CBSAA. Riker and Troi made their much reviled appearance in TaTV for similar reasons.

This makes me a bit concerned about the Picard show and the new Lower Decks show that CBS may be rushing to get the shows in production possibly to the shows' detriment. Not saying this is what is happening, I'm just hoping it isn't. CBS needs to get back all the subscribers who bailed on the service after DSC's season ended.

It would be hilarious if Lower Decks WAS the Picard show, and the extent of Sir Patrick's involvement is a voice over the comm to the lower decks crewpeople giving them orders every episode.
