One of the designs has the “balls” at the ends of the nacelles like later TOS, but also turned inwards like his NX-01 concept art

Our Rob or Ross?Weird to think that a variation of the Enterprise design created for an inferior prequel series is now determining the design of the Enterprise. That's some snake-eating-its-tail stuff.

It's just for the hull colouring based on the label.Weird to think that a variation of the Enterprise design created for an inferior prequel series is now determining the design of the Enterprise. That's some snake-eating-its-tail stuff.
Those pylons would have been so much better...
More Bob Ross, I would say.
With that avatar I’m not surprised
What are the two humps above the impulse engines for?

The humps are for slow dancing.
funny, the more i see it the more i like it.The more I see of it, the less I like it.
I still don’t see how it doesn’t fitfunny, the more i see it the more i like it.
that being said, it either doesn't belong in this universe or this universe doesn't belong with it. aesthetically speaking.
Same here, but I've come to the conclusion that there is a certain expectation of what Starfleet ships of this era are to look like. Since they don't, they must fit in to another box. It's all categorizing.I still don’t see how it doesn’t fit

i'm not really talking about preconceptions of what ships of this era should look like, i'm more puzzled by the approach taken by the production designers. the aesthetics of discovery's fleet are sort of all over the place, but in general the ships are angular with boxy nacelles, some share components across classes or have similar features like two antennas sticking out of their deflectors or three bussard collector domes, stuff like that.Same here, but I've come to the conclusion that there is a certain expectation of what Starfleet ships of this era are to look like.
