Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

The colour scheme mostly. The black striped markings over a whiter hull is a common trait seen in many STO ships.
Speaking which I gave the Enterprise F model a better look today. It does have the negative space between the primary and secondary hills but the gap is very minimal.
It doesn’t have the black markings as well but that could be because it’s a prototype and hasn’t been properly painted yet.

Only the refit F has the black markings. In its original appearances, which this model is based on, the ship really was plain gray with two spots or Federation-logo blue.

Facebook group is bubbling with images. Nothing new on BSG compared with what we saw at NYCC.

Cool to see the underside of the Bonaventure. In-universe, it seems to fit snugly into a lineage from NX-class to Walker-class. But I would love to have the TAS-Bonaventure, too, because it’s a funky-cute TOS-era-looking ship.

First of all, the TAS Bonaventure, like the various Earth-Kzin Wars, is tough to reconcile with established live-action canon. (I'm fine with a few elements slipping into canon, such as Spock's pet Sehlat being euthanized, or Robert April being the Enterprise's first captain, but I prefer to keep most of it out, myself).

More importantly, however, making a 3-D model out of any ship that originated in the 2-D TAS is quite difficult. The closest we came was the Antares, which was based on the grain ship in "More Tribbles, More Troubles".

Enterprise-F might be the first "hero ship" I skip. That design is just so uninspired. Previous Enterprises were good at looking distinct, like they came from a whole different generation than their predecessors. That just looks like a sister ship of the E-E and Voyager. It would be an okay side ship, but it's a poor Enterprise.

If you think it's bad, you should have seen most of the losers of that contest. The winning E-F was one of a handful that did anything interesting while still looking like an Enterprise.

Yup. It gets the Yorktown-class treatment following the battle for Earth with the Iconians.

Eww. That's depressing. They ruined the lines of that ship and glued on a bunch of tacky crap.

I wouldn’t try reconciling it but the mag doesn’t need to. More canon ships for the collection, on the plus side.

hero collector has an update on the discovery collection after issue 7, the buran: issue 8 - qugh class, issue 9 - U.S.S. clarke, issue 10 - qoj class.

they’re also announcing the first special will be the sarcophagus ship, but don't have a photo other than a render

I wonder if the Disco Enterprise will be part of the regular Discovery subscription. I can only seem to find references to it being in the XL line.

I've been looking for the XL TOS Enterprise. I finally decided to buy it, and now I can't find it anywhere. I saw it at a con last year, but only had room for one model in my suitcase so I got the XL Enterprise-D instead. I had no idea the TOS Enterprise was going to be so difficult to find.

I dunno, I think our own @GeekFilter has done a perfect job bringing the Bonaventure into the third dimension: Here.

It's my feeling as well that most of the models seem to become rarities soon after they've been released. Especially with the XL models and specials it becomes really hard to get those models at a reasonable price months after they have been released. That's why I've made a habit out of getting the models I really want (need?) as quickly as possible.

The first one out will be part of the XL Line, the next one after the Ent-C. I read somewhere, the Facebook fan page interview with Ben maybe, that another (smaller) model will come as part of the Discovery subscription at some later date.

Wow! So much eaglemoss Trek magnificence being planned!

Loving the Bonaventure! That’s a fantastic TOS starship if ever there was one!

Still no sign of Eaglemoss’s Trek presence returning, back here in New Zealand (at least from the stores I frequent), and online.

Hoping it’s just a dry patch, after the issues with NZ / AUS distribution were resolved...
