Surely something good happened to you today

Sampling...as in water quality or sound clips?

I seem to remember you saying something about testing water, but I don't know if I was imagining things.

Me:

I've woken up for two days in a row without my forearms and wrists in extreme pain and my fingers haven't been numb, which had been happening lately.

I think it may be the same problem that led to my dad's death: pinched nerve in my neck due to spinal stenosis. The thing is, he was on some pretty severe blood thinners due to his heart issues and they had to take him off of those thinners for a month before surgery, which led to his stroke, which led to his failed heart.

I'm not on thinners other than a daily dose of aspirin.

But it's all over now and you survived it. Happy birthday!!

I was still recovering during b-day, and mostly slept through it.

BUT... now I haz strawberry-flavored wine, and "Please Stand By" and "How to Talk to Girls at Parties" on Blu-ray.
So this weekend, I may finally get to contribute to Drunk!TNZ.

Had a good day today. Was able to stock up a bit on items, gifts and what not at Pokestops and a Gym. Also got done with some research tasks in game and caught another Scyther (this one is for Let's Go) and a regular Exeggutor. :)

As in water quality :) I earn my living by catching waterbugs (they are very sensitive indicators for pollution level, structural quality and climatical changes) with the occasional cameo in forensics when they need an aquatic entomologist. Tuesday was just a routine check on a rather clean mountain stream.

Good thing today: I overslept this morning and was up just in time for the market to open so that I could buy a container of delicious grilled mushrooms with garlic and herbs for my lunch break. (Usually, I start work 2 hours earlier when the market is still closed.)

^is that unusual? Over here, October usually is sunny and mild and we are further north than Seattle.

The forecast predicts a little rain for next week. That'd be awesome! We've only had 8 rainy days all year yet.
And the best thing today: it's Friday!

It seems unusual for down this way. As for the rain, I need to get boots for an upcoming field trip!
ETA: I got most of the outside Halloween decorations up, picked up what I needed for my niece's costume, and am nearly done with cleaning the kitchen!

Fireball?

Like a shooting star?

Basically, yes, but instead of just a streak across the sky, it's obvious that it's a ball of fire flying across the sky, and this one, like so many, was accompanied by an explosion before it disappeared into seeming nothingness, though it was too far away and high to hear it.

It’s for things like this that I wander the Earth with one eye fixed upon the sky.

I just walked outside, noticed a strange glow out of the corner of my eye and caught the tail end of the fireball, just before it exploded.

I looked online to see if anyone else had reported it on social media, came across the American Astronomical Society's website about fireballs, and they ask that people that see them report them, so I did.

You’ve just reminded me of something I watched on TV. We have a monthly magazine type show here called The Sky at Night for amateur astronomers, and they did a recent thing on a project to use rooftop cameras across the country to record the sky looking for fireballs. Whenever they capture one, they can compare the submitted footage to triangulate the location of the rock and track it down.

YAY! For 2 weeks I've been trying to apply the [insert un-ladylike swearwords here] snap ring that fixes the sprocket on my old bicycle and couldn't get it on. And last evening when I gave it a last try it simply slid on. Must have coincidentially gotten the ideal angle =) Now I only have to mount the bowden cable, renew the cables for the lights and exchange the rear fender.
10 days and I'll have my old bicycle in working order again =)

Yesterday I went to a “procurement opportunities fair” as an assistant for our department. Since we are an event venue, and most of the other attendees were from small businesses, nobody really wanted to talk to us much.

So basically I got paid - and a really nice free lunch - to sit for 6 hours at a table and play with my phone. And I got to go home an hour early.

It was a good day.
