Well yeah obviously, based on what we know so far, he probably has a beard and shaggy hair because he was on leave investigating the red lights.

I adore Tim Russ and that is because of Tuvok. Favourite character in all Trek. To me Trek has given us Spock who had that whole half human, half Vulcan thing going on. Tuvok who is wonderfully full Vulcan and by virtue or his age has this history back to TOS characters but also a friendship with Janeway. Now we have Michael. She is neither full or half blood Vulcan but socialised Vulcan. It mixes it up a bit.
Does someone on Nerdotic Channel read TrekBBS? "Hipster Spock" is what he's being called in this YouTube Video.

Seriously, sarcasm aside, I don't see a problem here. I'm sure there's a reason why Spock is looking bearded and unkempt at some point in the story. And the image is striking enough to get people's attention, which is the whole point of publicity photos. You want people to be intrigued and curious about why Spock has a beard.
And what's the objection anyway? Where is it "canonically" established that Spock shaved every day of his life?
