Spoilers Season 2 Trailer

Never fails.

Change Trek, make it look different: "OH NOES MY CHILDHOOD"
Introduce things people were asking for: "HOW DARE YOU"

Your own post belies the problem: It's not about the looks...

...It is about the content.

We know looks always change over time, even in ENT. People didn't stop people from laughing at most of its content.

Okay and, does the thing Stamets removes from Tilly kind of remind anyone of those crew members trapped in the pattern buffer in TNG?

Did the inhabitants of the colony they're rescuing I presume end up caught the same way? trying to beam away from the Red Angel?

Your own post belies the problem: It's not about the looks...
The fast majority of the posts are about the looks. About the lighting, the shape of Discovery, the shape of the Enterprise, the shape of all Starfleet vessels, how the Klingon ships don't line up, how the Klingon make up doesn't line up, how holograms don't make sense in universe, how Spock looks (a beard!), how the Terran Empire looks, how Mudd looks. On and on.

If content is the problem then why is surface level details the first complaints I read in most of the threads?

So, that mystery ship in the cave from the trailer!

Facebook fan group discussed whether it could be the Alka-Selsior design or not.

which ship in which cave?
At the very begining you can see a crashed ship as the camera pans over a hill.

It's probably the Hiawatha

It got us into their universe (and didn't take the easy route of pandering nearly as much as it could, thank Gene Roddenberry for that as he didn't want TOS to be used as a crutch) and kept us there.
ORLY? Is that why the Pilot episode pretty much featured a more mature 'Squire Trelaine' (see TOS - "Squire of Gothos"); and the FIRST regular episode was a 100% remake of TOS - "The Naked Time""?

Also, remember that GR wanted to do MORE outright TOS script remakes; but the fan (and Press) backlash to "The Naked Now" was so severe, Paramount Execs said "No more TOS remakes...do original scripts..."

Seems some people forget just how TNG started.

Not encouraged by the storyline of "Spock and others have visions of angels." Seems hackneyed and too reminiscent of evangelical entertainment. I'm further alarmed by the fact that the show hired Vaun Wilmott, creator of a series about a war between the archangel Gabriel and the archangel Michael. This season was set up, in part, by the fired Aaron Harberts, who said he wanted to explore the theme of "faith vs. science." Harberts also described himself as an "Iowa-born son of a preacher."

Now, of course Star Trek can explore themes of faith and religion. Deep Space Nine did so admirably. But I've seen nothing from Discovery's writers/producers that leads me to think they can handle this complex and potentially problematical subject admirably, especially given their penchant for action, melodrama, and shallow twists.

Here’s a big question. Does that mean that Rebecca Romijn will be voicing the computer from now on?

Would also be cool if she started voicing them in Picard’s new show as well.

I absolutely loved the trailer!

About the Klingons, design aesthetics, … : the showrunners should have just said to us: “We’re giving Star Trek a reboot.”

All these questions about how the show can fit into canon is giving me headache :D.
