Looks like we will have a fully bearded Lieutenant Spock on Discovery

It is relevant in it shows that there is no real vision behind-the-scenes, and it shows in the show itself. Which is bad for an arc-based show
Well, that means it's relevant to a discussion about the show's quality, but I thought we were talking about the show's compatability with previous Trek shows, not how good or bad it is.

Plus, we have no proof that whatever changes they have in mind, include hair.
Um, yes we have. There are a bunch of Klingons with hair in the trailer.

No. As I already said, they confirmed hair before Season 1 even aired.

Well, yes. The Klingons were supposed to be more alien, they tossed that in the trash. So, a lack of conviction on their part.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...
It's like they're trolling Trek purists.
Why don't they give him a nose-ring, ear gauges, and an IDIC neck-tattoo while they're at it?
If you have to ask, you won't understand.
Cite the worst Trek Film (other than Into Darkness). That's a ringing endorsement right there.
If a character (from a species shown to be capable of growing facial hair, and indeed the character himself has done so in the Mirror Universe) having their beard grow out is all it takes to "troll" self-appointed Trek purists, then there's absolutely no reason to take anything they have to say seriously, because they are so easily triggered that almost anything could be considered to be trolling them.

Besides, if they really want to troll Trek purists, they'd just say that Spock's beard is Uhura. ;)

You seriously think growing a beard is equivalent to making Spock a punk rocker? That's absurd. He could have just been stranded or imprisoned somewhere without a razor, or was in a coma, or was making a style choice, or a hundred other reasons.

Since you've disregarded the relevant example of Spock's brother Sybok for arbitrary reasons, and probably think Mirror Universe examples of Spock (and other Vulcans) growing a Van Dyke don't count, I suppose you'll also come up with some excuse for why the Vulcan Healer with the beard from TAS - Yesteryear or the Vulcan Master with the Van Dyke that Tuvok visited as a child in VOY - Gravity (both set around 2270, so within a few decades of DSC) aren't legitimate examples either.

Or when Spock decided to grow a Vulcan Mullet (Vullet?) in TMP and be all "Logic in the front, party in the back", to express his duality as a half-human / half-Vulcan.

On the flip-side, I once grew a thick Grizzly Adams beard over the summer during high school, and my Mom declared me non-canon at the dinner table until I agreed to shave it off before school started, so there's that.

Looks good, if you ask me.

Speak for yourself. That haircut looks like Justin Bieber. It's boy-band teen-idol Spock (with a beard).

Looks like a guy who needs a haircut or at least a stylist. My hair currently looks very similar and not be because I wanna be 2011 Bieber. I've just been avoiding the barber.

Hmm, when Spock is undergoing the Kolinahr and become purely logical he lets his hair gt out of control. Perhaps he's doing something similar here.

Or a much more likely explanation is that they want to show Spock in the trailer for publicity reasons, but they don't want to show his normal Starfleet appearance right away so they cover him in hair for the first few episodes.

Is the universal translator busted? In what way is "Looks good, if you ask me" not "speaking for himself"? You're the one who purported to represent the opinion of all Trek purists.

It looks like the front part of Spock's shaggy Cuisinart ritual hair from TMP. Like he's been out of circulation for a while and let it grow out. So, wholly consistent with the beard.
