Um, that was the Gamesters themselves who did that not the TOS transporter. You might want to actually WATCH the episode.
I think that's what Kemaiku meant by "from their end." The comment being replied to was about "TOS-era transporters," not specifically Starfleet ones. In that same era, we also had Gary Seven and the Kalandans using interstellar transporters.
In the situation with Gary Seven, it was stated by Scott that no transporter could reach that far. The aliens in that episode had a transporter with a range of at least 1000 light years.
In the situation with the Gamesters, McCoy said that Spock would be out of his mind to believe that the landing party could have been transported nearly 12 light years away. Not 1100 light years.12.

This was mentioned elsewhere and I agree with it. This episode does something else. They show that the 15 minute fan film guidelines are in fact workable and you can produce something pretty good within that time limit. We're going to get three more examples of it very soon.

I didn't think it was a long range transport. I assumed Tilly finally let her superiors know the situation and Discovery actually went to the alien planet and Tilly just beamed her down. Not everything can be shown or explained in a 15 minute episode with very limited budget.
Precisely the assumption I made.
Never understood why a seemingly intelligent fan base insists that everything be spelled out explicitly.
Very very frustrating have to wait two days to find somewhere to watch it!

Ok, I liked this episode... good but I don't find some place where to put it on the Discovery timeline ..maybe sometime between the Pavho crisis???

Good to see a beautiful character like Tilly shine, despite the fact that looks like the ship is empty... or almost everyone are sleeping... I think.
And why the aliens on DSC looks so human?
But is good to see new stories on Star Trek.

Huh? Most Star Trek aliens have always looked human.
I'd say DSC has the least human-ish aliens. Saru isn't that human, especially his leg shape. And the Klingons are the least human appearing they've ever been. Not to mention the bug headed guy and the Saurian fromthe Season 2 trailer...

As did TOS, twice -- first with the implication that Sargon's people had seeded worlds throughout the galaxy, second with the Preservers as an attempt to explain Earth-duplicate cultures (although few of the previous Earth duplicates would actually work with that explanation).
So did TOS - go watch TOS S3 - "The Paradise Syndrome".

Why should they? The guidelines are for other people borrowing their property. Naturally the owners of the property wouldn't be subject to the same limits. My landlord has a lot more freedom to remodel my apartment than I do.
I know that, you asked if we'd ever seen transporters in that era perform that task. And we did, and on top of that the Crossfield class has be shown to have better transporters than the Enterprise and a unique targetting aparatus that operates over extreme distance that Tilly was specifically assigned to the ship to help manage.
So it's possible for ordinary transporters to do it (and across dimensions etc etc in TOS), the ship has a long range targetting system, multiple reactors to help power such systems and the task was performed by someone with a specialised skill in doing just that kind of thing.
So no problems there.
