On my disc, its actually my Blu-Ray player that's doing the upscaling. The actual episode is in SD on the disc."Tribbles and tribbliations", on the second season of TOS was remastered or just upscaled to put in the Bluray of TOS?
Those would look terrible, considering that all the VHS, DVD, digital downloads and broadcast masters are derived from COMPOSITE interlaced video masters (D2 which is what Paramount was using for the Master edits, is digital but it stored Composite video not component).I think we know the day is coming when it will happen. Something will come up and people will feel they can make money off it like when the tech to do it becomes less expensive. It might not even be done through legal means. Someday the average person will have access to tech who can do it and you might see bootlegged copies of DS9 bluy-rays.

Even advancements in 3d/2d comb filter technology will not undo the damage that composite video does to a video signal. It may smooth things out better, but really it’s “lipstick on a pig”.Maybe if they did it today. We don't know how advance the tech will come though in the future.

You have to realize that what you are suggesting is what is currently going on, on a consumer level, in Laserdisc circles. How to get the best signal from Laserdisc in today’s digital age? And really it’s to plug the yellow composite cable into your TV as your TV will have a more advanced 3-D comb filter than what your Laserdisc player has for converting the on disc composite video into S-Video.Can't we have a dream!

I don't know how many times it needs to be said - the market for physical media is just not there any more. The DVD boom of the mid-2000's is long behind us, and the numbers for sales are dwindling year after year. That's why major studios are transferring to MOD services for catalog titles, which DS9 really is, objectively. When you factor in blu-rays sales and streaming revenue, DS9 in HD would likely be profitable.

I didn't think there would be any animation. Is it to make it more like the TNG doc.Newest email update shows an animated frame of Captain Ezri for season 8.
...wait, what?! Did we know they were going to animate season 8 (or parts of it) and I somehow missed it?!
