I would sympathise if the sets weren’t so dreadful.
Ill informed, perhaps. Still, you'd think someone in the profession would know better.Calling the sets "cardboard" is disrespectful, any way you slice it.
They are cheap compared to modern sets and don’t come close to holding up as believable. I love the old sets and designs, but they’re a product of their time and should be viewed as such."Low budget" is another thing thrown around regarding TOS, when actually, compared to other shows in the 60s, it was pretty high budget (one of the reasons it was cancelled was because of how expensive it was to make). Classic Doctor Who in the 70s wished it looked as good as Star Trek in the 60s.
So what?

They'd look like DISCO's sets.We really don't know what they would look like with modern production values and several million dollars for construction.
I know. I'm just saying how it's popular opinion to think that TOS was low budget, even for the 1960s, when it was actually a high budget production. They are cheap compared to modern sets and don’t come close to holding up as believable. Even fans of the show repeat that myth!I know. I'm just saying how it's popular opinion to think that TOS was low budget, even for the 1960s, when it was actually a high budget production.
Fans suck. Connoisseurs rule.Even fans of the show repeat that myth!
