Star Trek: First Frontier on Kickstarter

This looks quite good. I'm looking forward to giving it a watch.

I'll be happy to watch. There are a few of these that have been kicking around 2-3 years and have never shown up.

I know Yorktown is still active because John has just put some new images on the Facebook group a couple of days ago, but how many other major projects are MIA? A standout one is Starship Farragut, who produced a 'final episode' but haven't been heard from in over a year. They even shot a cameo with Stan Lee!

I don't keep close tabs but I was thinking of this one, PAC-201, and the Captain Pike film. I did get confirmation that Pike was abandoned 2 years ago, they are just too lazy to delete the social media and website. Looks like $150K went poof.

Is Exeter Trek still a thing? I liked their trailers.

Looking forward to see First Frontier if it's nearly there.

Yorktown is still happening. John showed me a cut of the opening recently and I gave him some feedback on the edit.

Exeter Trek's last production related post on their Facebook page was a year and a half ago, so don't hold your breath.

John posted in the Facebook group Saturday and yesterday it’s all good! The lost caper of Mr Sulu will be lost no more!

"We are still deep into post production. I had hoped (and Prayed) for an earlier release, but that was not possible. I know we have been short on updates and I do apologise. The film is in the hands of our editor and we are hopeful he will finish his work on it... soon. I have been awaiting an update for sometime from him, so as soon as I do I will post it. Thanks very much for your interest in our TREK....

FROM THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE: RELEASE 3/13/19
https://www.facebook.com/startrekfirstfrontier/posts/1172442882902855

We're in the final phase for release. This is the new Teaser Poster. A new version of the trailer will be released shortly. A few of us from production will be on the Star Trek Cruise leaving January 4 from Miami and we will be giving away, randomly, memory sticks with the new trailer and with my favorite scene from the movie. The planned release is 3/13/19. LLAP! And Happy New Year.

I notice their appellation is conspicuously absent the "FAN PRODUCTION" requirement. Is there a run-time listed?

I hope they hit their March release date.........reminds me of the announcement of a pending important announcement thing that many of the films have done over the past few years. Meanwhile we will be on a cruise/at a convention/playing WarHammer in Europe.........maybe I'm jaded.

When we were finished TTI we decided the best announcement was a locked-in release date. I hate it when people announce that they're going to announce something. Just fucking announce it!

I believe this was in production before the guidelines, which may give it amnesty from the rules.
There is no such amnesty. The one thing Van Critters said was effectively "Hey if you're in Post Production right now (IE at the time the Guidlines were posted) and about to release, we probably won't come after you..."

But 2+ years later...nope, don't think they qualify. That said, CBS has said that if you don't follow the Guidelines, it doesn't mean they automatically will come after your group; it's a case by case basis. So, (Like "Star Trek Continues" did) - it looks like these guys plan to release what they have and roll the dice that CBS ultimately won't care enough to take action.

Yay! Someone actually looks to finish something.

That said...

Stop. Using. That.

Well...it doesn't look great, but there are a some shots that look nice and a few others that look like Potemkin. But, really, another convince the weary captain to take command story? Must every fan group have to trot this out?
