Could Enterprise be revived?

"Enterprise will be brought back when pigs fly."

Yes but how many times did Patrick Stewart say he was done playing Picard, and now he may be returning for a limited series.

I still doubt it'll happen but we do officially live in bizarro world now.

The difference is that TNG was actually a successful show and is beloved to this day, Enterprise not so much. Even if the cast was willing to do it again I doubt there'd be much interest from the corporate side of things.

Agreed, but I'd never have expected Beyond and Discovery to tie into ENT so heavily. Common sense says not to remind everyone of unpopular or unsuccessful things. Star Trek V is pretty much ignored. The current Star Wars trilogy make zero references to the unpopular prequel trilogy. But Trek seems determined to remind everyone of their "franchise killer" at every turn.

Enterprise didn't kill anything. It was itself killed, three seasons too soon, cut down just as it was hitting its stride. Crap network wannabe that didn't even cover the country, lousy advertising, too many preemptions, DVRing not yet being counted toward viewership, and the Beebs, who demonstrated their lack of love or care for the show by making the finale about TNG and relegating the ENT cast to being fake people in a lousy holodeck thing. :barf:

Maybe the writers who keep putting ENT references in the movies don't think it sucks, but have a soft spot for it, like ENT fans do. I'll take it. C'mon kids, we were the only show left standing in the TOS timeline. Sweet validation.

Beyond and Discovery tie heavily into TOS, Enterprise just happens to be close enough (and more importantly is set earlier in the timeline) that references make sense.

And not reminding people of unsuccesful things isn't a rule, the Star Wars clone wars and Rebels tv shows referenced the prequel trilogy amd at least Rebels really didn't have to.

Really all of Trek is based on a show that didn't do terribly well and didnt even make it to 4 seasons.

Soooo true and I think I have to put in my two cents too. One of the other main reason behind the canceling of show was flop of Nemesis. It killed the our "beloved" Trek Universe and studios released that they have to find another kind of consumers.. ehh fans, I mean. This was the birth hour of Kelvin Universe which brings obviously more money, if it is canon or not.. just who cares if some canon-belt Trekkies go mad and run amok?

I love ENT. For me it is the best franchise (TOS out of competition). Only for two years before, if someone would say to me this, I could not even think it could be a bad joke. Trek was/is always part of my live. As the time ENT aired on TV, I was at the university and I had a very hard time. Middle of the second season I lost all my appetite for Trek and some other things which were important until this time for me.

For two years as I feel sick of Brexit, refugee crisis, war on Syria, Greece, European Union, etc. , and was very disappointed from all left/right politicians and institutions. :ouch: Most horrible were for me the NGO's and their ethics superiority. I was tired to hear from all sides " you are with us or against us". Then I began to read about those all great men and women Enlighteners and want to understand how they handle with ignorance, where they get their power to fight against darkness. At the same time, I rediscovered Trek for me as an old good companion. Maybe it is ridiculous/naive (OK, you can laugh ). ENT is for me as an average human being something about hope, something about believe in humanity, something about making own mistakes and learning from them and not just so idealized like TNG.
I think everything is dark enough what we are living in why we need to watch something darker and more serious than this? That's why Orville is popular than DIS imho and maybe that is reason studios want the try again with TNG or with a someone like Tarantino. I do not believe anymore but revived ENT can be a thing, why not?

The thing I still believe Enterprise needs is a one shot deal to tidy it all up, and maybe prompt more to rewatch the whole series again. I'd set a story in 2175 to account for a cast that's twenty years older... Admiral Archer is Federation President by then and he finds himself on trial for war crimes. You show scenes from a key battle in the Romulan War as memories or evidence presented in court. Through this idea you get a surprise like Trip death having been faked and Shran coming out of hiding to defend the NX-01 crew's actions. I would reintroduce the Remans (from Star Trek Nemesis) and actually explain their origins in detail. The advantage being it's fine if Starfleet see them face-to-face. Then there could be shock testimony which reveals how Section 31 kept all knowledge about the Romulans from humanity, in order to prevent reprisals from xenophobic organizations like Terra Prime against the Vulcans.

I though that Enterprise was cancelled by the break out of CBS/Paramount .... maybe with the re-emerging news we can get finally a good ending -or continuity- for the story.

There are 5 series on development ...one of them could be a story that ties Ent with DSC.
Or the birth of The Federation kind of thing. I believe sometime in the future this story must be show... just imagine a heroic five chapter miniseries that follow the birth of the federation... could be super cool.

I don't think we'll ever see an Enterprise revival. I actually liked the show and season 3 and 4 had some great episodes (1 and 2 were a bit hit or miss, but let's be honest, TNG and DS9 didn't have their best hours in season 1 or 2 either). Bringing in Manny Coto I thought put the series on the right track. They also started bringing in other writers again. I'm not a Berman hater. Some of the best Star Trek moments came under his leadership. But he's a producer, an overseer basically. He is not a great writer. It's not his strength. Braga was a bit of an enigma in his writing---he's written some of the best...and worse episodes of Star Trek. But it's never good no matter how good the writer to have them write everything. You need some variety. That was Enteprise's weakness in the first 2 seasons. When Berman and Braga took on more of an overseeing role and brought in some other writers, things started to get better. Manny Coto had a good feel for the prequel aspect of the show and got them on the right track.

Enterprise ended before it's time. We were on the cusp of the Romulan War. Some of the ideas they had for season 5 were great ideas IMO and I would have loved to see more. And did I say the Romulan War--frustrating because it's the one event in Star Trek history that we've never seen on screen and is so pivotal to Star Trek history. It lead to the creation of the Federation. I think S&S finally decided to cover it in the novels almost out of frustration---you know, they're never going to show it on screen so might as well cover it in the novels (this was after the movie idea about the Romulan War was bagged).

I love the relaunch Enterprise novels since they moved the story forward (though I felt the Romulan War was a bit short changed when S&S cut back the number of books to just 2---I always say I'd love to see a Tales of the Romulan War to fill in some of that history) and the current Rise of the Federation novels Christopher Bennett is writing. But as good as the novels are, it's not quite the same as seeing it on screen. The Romulan War in particular deserved to be seen on screen.

Almost no existence of a chance, but holding out hope what we get a T'Pol crossover in 'Discovery'.

I do have to agree about TATV. Maybe if it weren't the final episode it wouldn't have been as terrible. If it was just a random episode somewhere. There still is that what's the point problem, but it would be easier to gloss over (say like "Threshold"). But being the finale was just a total kick in the pants.

I always thought what they should have done, to sort of stick their finger in the eye of the network for cancelling it, is to have the final episode end with the declaration of war against the Romulans. Then say sorry, the network cancelled the show 3 years too early so we can't finish it. Call them to complain.

I'd have season 5 starting with worn down haggard Will Riker working in a distant future Cinnabon on Risa, it's black and white. something happens that triggers his memory of further adventures of the NX-01 crew.

Enterprise ended before it's time.
No, it didn't. It ended after 4 seasons and 98 episodes, under no circumstances can that be described as ending before its time, that's more produced content than the vast majoity of tv shows will ever have. So they had great romulan war ideas for season 5? Why not use them in season 4 then instead of wasting time with fanwank stories about klingon foreheads and Brent Spiner as Dr. Soong's identical grandpa.
Or if they wanted more action and a serialized story for season 3, they didn't have to invent the Xindi, they had an established conflict ready to go, they could have done the romulan war then and there. Not that I want to lose the Xindi arc, it was one of the most interesting things Enterprise did, I just don't think there's a reason to complain that they never got to the romulan war, they didn't get to that because they didn't want to not because of a lack of time.

Is the chance greater than zero? Sure.

But if they were going to bring an old series back in any way, wouldn't they want to bring a popular one?

Season 4 had some fanwank, but it was not at all excessive fanwank, and it was the first time in the series they actually had good writing so it's perfectly forgivable. Good fanwank is better than a bad TNG clone.

It’s all about $. Sure, they could do it. I’d bet they could produce a 12 episode season of Ent today for less $ than the cast of Will and Grace is getting for their revival. Bakula is the largest single expense. In fact, there is some economy of scale to do another Trek series around Discovery’s production schedule. Perhaps they should do one season of Ent to wrap it up properly, then move to the Meyer series.

Now, I'm aware that the chances of this are very, very slim. But if Discovery ends up a huge success and sufficiently revives widespread interest in TV Trek to motivate the airing of multiple Trek series at once (as in the 90s), could Enterprise be brought back? ...

I'm one of those who would love Hollywood to remake only bad movies in order to correct their flaws thereby transforming them into good ones. In that vein I would love for CBS to remake Star Trek: Enterprise. A complete do over. New cast. Overhaul the premise. I know it won't happen, but a Trekker can dream.

No. ENT was cancelled because it was a show that was very expensive to produce for very little reward (read: money). If ENT had sky-high ratings like all those crappy reality-tv shows, it would not have been cancelled.
