“Jean-Luc Picard is back”: will new Picard show eclipse Discovery?

This can't be. Only Gene, to good for this earth, Roddenberry who rules up in Heaven as we speak should be depicted in a saintly matter. Someday when we get their and our reward is a real life Enterprise of our own to fly around Heaven in, your going to be asked about whether you approved of this image. You don't want to let him down do you?

Apparently you're of a different faith than fireproof78 and I.

For now we may face a true Holy War. A true Canon War. The likes of which will make Medieval Times proud.

I don't think canons were invented yet in medieval times so I already have some canon issues with the cannons in the Canon war. I think catepotes were what was used instead of canons. I hope the necessary changes are made as soon as possible,

Imagine drinking a Gallon of tea every day. (Visualize how big that gallon jug of milk in your fridge is). If you drink that much of ANYTHING, it will not be good for you.

There are 16 cups in a gallon. How many cups of tea does an average person drink per day? One? Maybe two?

12 was standard amongst my family. I prefer coffee.

Ernie Kovacs - now-forgotten genius of early TV. :)

Indeed. :)

I have often wondered how much greater It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World might have been, if Ernie had been in it. It had his wife, Edie Adams, but it didn't have him. :(

When I saw this, I thought of Ernie. Yeah, sometimes a hat is just a hat. Still....

I wonder if this is a new strategy, basically trying to trick people into watching shows by constantly telling them it got way better after they stopped?.

Except sometimes shows do get better. I gave up on both X-FILES and BABYLON-5 early on, but gave them a second chance when friends I trusted told me I was missing out. And more recently, it's generally agreed that the first season of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is easily its weakest, but the show has been getting better and better (and funnier and funnier) with each new season. So telling people, "no, seriously, forget the first season. Season Four is sublime" is not a trick.

In short, there's no trickery here. Again, look at the first season of TNG. Would it be deceitful to tell people that, really, the show got much better later on?

A chunk of people don’t even know series one of the avengers exists. Ad,tiredly, it’s mostly lost but still...

Here in America, our first exposure to THE AVENGERS was the Diana Rigg years, at which point the show had already been running in the UK for several years.

And, yes, it would not be trickery to tell potential new viewers that the show hits its peak when Emma Peel shows up in the fourth season.

Some people prefer the avengers the next generation...I mean...the new avengers.
And some like a film reboot...
Poor buggers. I can’t imagine being in a fandom like that....

Totally agree. Season 1 wasn’t too bad but it’s orders of magnitude better now. Legends was made to be very audience friendly as opposed to dark and gritty I suppose...

Overall I agree - but s1 of TNG isn’t that bad. It’s only slightly worse quality-wise than s7. TNG peaked around s6. S3 onwards showed a marked improvement I think :)

So I once saw Pat take a picture with some other fellow -- I think his name was Ian or sommat -- and I thought to myself 'he'd make a pretty good Vulcan.'

Just thrown' it out there...

He’d be a good Sybok.

He's currently starring in the new V-WARS tv series, now in production. (It's a post-apocalyptic vampire show based the books and comics by Jonathan Maberry.) Don't know if that precludes him from guesting on DISCO or not.
