Julian/Jadzia

I wish the producers had enough courage for a Bashir/Garak relationship. It would be great!
Julian could have had the best of everything with Jadzia, Miles and Garak. But that is not the case but he was best friends with Miles O'Brien.

And yes, Mash was rife with things that would have doctors jailed today.
Yeah. "MASH did it too." isn't really an argument.

It's a nice thought, but any relationship built on lies is doomed to fail -- even if the same lie is never told twice.

I could never really establish who Jadzia was.
Neither could the writers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which he should have discouraged, being her doctor.

I don't think we know that he was her doctor. There were several doctors on the station. For that matter, she was new to the station, and young and healthy and maybe didn't have a regular doctor.

@jaime I never noticed an issue with Odo and Kira, maybe on his end, because of everything that happened with the Shakaar, but she didn’t seem to do anything that would have been line crossing.

I’m actually not a fan of Kira because I felt that her sexual prowess was a little overboard otherwise. She reminded me a lot of Kirk, there was always someone new and her love life was a revolving door until her and Odo got together. He was the best thing for her. IMO, Odo was one of the only relationships she had that wasn’t fleeting and insubstantial. They actually had something real that wasn’t rushed into one episode. Him joining the link in the finale broke my heart.

Overboard sexual prowess? Kira had three relationships in seven years, Bareil, Shakaar, and Odo. All one at a time. No short-term flings, as far as we know. That doesn't seem at all overboard to me. Possibly Tom Riker, but if so, she was lying to her best friend about it, which seems unlikely.

wow this has been a busy thread today.

Was Bashir worse than Hawkeye Pierce, Trapper John or Frank Burns? Adam Bricker?

No... well, Hawkeye gradually transitioned away from the bedhopping behavior around seasons 6 or 7. When Trapper left the show, Hunnicutt his replacement didn't womanize at all. This says more about late 1970s sleeping around was not considered good behavior for the protagonists to engage in than it does about Hawkeye.

Burns was different, he had a mistress but stuck to the same one which I guess could be interpretted as better behavior? And she dumped him, and hurray for Margaret.

I dunno anything about Love Boat, sorry.

Wrong. Because I saw hardly any compliments with Worf at all and in Season 3 Episode 4 Equilibruim Jadzia calls Julian a 'Dear Man'.

"A dear man" was not a romanic or flirty complement at all! Dax was saying "thank you for sitting there like a third wheel for hours while Lenara and I reminisced and flirted! You were the perfect blind chaperone! Thank you and you are firmly in the friend zone."

I was not talking about "Rejoined" I was talking about "Equilibrium".

It’s a line of Ezri I think. Something like ‘if Worf hasn’t had come along, it would have been you julian’
Jadzia May even have said it. It’s on screen somewhere I believe. Unless I am smudging in the relaunch books.

Ezri said it but I she was confusing her own attraction to Bashir with Jadzia's memories of liking Bashir as a friend only.

Ezri would have been Ezri Tigan if that was the case.
That would have been interesting! My first thought was the Nog would have been way too young for Ezri, but that isn't really so, is it? I'd rather have seen that than Bashir. At least it would have been a twist that you couldn't see coming a light year away.

Which British people? Liverpool? Yorkshire? Lots of enjoyable accents, but not all posh by any means!
I mean Recieved Pronunciation or "Queens English" as they call it.
Yorkshire sounds quite slang as well but i do have a "London Accent" which I believe is called Cockney.
I thought we were supposed the cut the conversation about accents?

Good Morning.
I believe that was cringy though.

Totally. But it wasn’t a serious comment. Though it’s not the only instance, just the most funnily cringey. Troi discusses a few of her chaps throughout the series, as does Beverly. Dax has her convos with Kira, her holodeck tips, he discussion of captain Boday etc. Women probably spend more time openly perving on men in Trek than the other way round. What that says about the writers is one thing, what it says about the universe and characters portrayed is another. A positive way of seeing it is to think of it as showing a liberated equalitarian ideal, which is likely what was mostly intended. Our starfleet crews were doing Sex and the City before it was a thing basically.
