Bleh.  I deleted the post I put up.  Reiterating what I said so people know what BillJ was quoting:
Whenever I try to picture Discovery as a TOS-looking show, I just can't. I think to myself, "Thank God they didn't go with that." Whenever I try to imagine what DSC would've been like if were of another era, I keep thinking back to the '70s. I look at the concept art, I look at the show which reminds me of the movies, and I keep thinking this feels more like it would be a '70s or TMP-era show. Even the nickname for it is Disco!
It's just not a "60s" show and imagining it as such, even though some might prefer it, just feels wrong to me. It's not Discovery.
