News More Eaglemoss Discovery Starships

I wonder if Eagle-moss is going to do a version of the ISS CHARON ?
Be interesting to see how they depict that Super-Mycelial Reactor.

They are going to start shipping the Discovery Klingon BOP in a couple of weeks.

Really like the detail and the intimidating wing span. I think the design is supposed to invoke a certain presence with it, which I like. Play the soundtrack from TSFS and it is suitably terrifying symbol of the Klingon Empire.

I really dig that design. Just not for a klingon ship.
Like, if in season 1 of Discovery suddenly nuAlienSpeciesX appeared in those ships and started a war with the Federation - they would have probably immediately gone down in Trek history as one of the better new alien antagonist races (like the Cardassians and later the Dominion, Hirogen, Species 8472 and the Xindi did back in their days). It's just the discrepancy with what we know about actual klingon technology and design language over hundreds of hours of Trek television that leads to criticism. On it's own - this is a damn good design.

I don't like it as any ship. The gothic detailing is cool, but the neck part is located far too high. It's like it is scared and reeling backwards.

Yeah, it's a weird design. And strangely much more "upright" and tall than the entirely flat Federation ships of DIS. (They switched that around. Like ging the Federation the brutalistic design language, and the klingons the delicate, organic one:lol:).

But IMO that's what makes this design visually interesting and unique. If it weren't for that weird feature, yeah, it would simply look like a death glider from Stargate or literally any other sci-fi show.

The BoP is my favorite Klingon design out of the lot - distinct, easy to identify from a distance, and above all simple in shape, which is a prime criterion for being iconic. It's not a major departure from the general Bird of Prey ethos, either, as it certainly has the wings and neck of a buzzard. Even if an alien moon-buzzard from Penthos V...

It's also functionally distinct in being the small, swarming type. Now, were this another Trek show, I would have preferred just two other types, bigger fighting vessels for the appropriate dramatic lots, and then the occasional utility vessel (much as in ENT). But DSC S1 is all about these feuding and diverse Klingons, and might eventually get mileage out of the diversity (and never mind the other ships aren't all that diverse in the end, I just adore the baroque "destroyer").

It's just that it's a bit superfluous to also have a feuding and diverse Starfleet...

Design looks better (to me) if it's rotated forward several degrees. Think it gives it a more head down and menacing look.
